C32 as a commuter car?
Currently have two trucks and am looking for fun to drive commuter car around town. New to MB, have had many BWM's but Bangle is killing me. I know this sound like a dumb question, but what fuel economy are people seeing witht the C32's?
I live in Michigan, bad roads, how harsh is the ride
Any problem area's to look out for. Would not mind a C230 sedan with MT, but can not find any.
Feedback is appreciated.

Not a bad commuter car
I use my C32 as commuter car. Its nice car for that. Powerful, comfortable and quiet (Too quiet for my tastes). I drive on Chicago roads and the ride is fine. Average about 18mpg.
I would not buy this car without some kind of extended warranty. Had mine for less than 10 months and already been in dealership for Ac stepper motor ($800), Steering wheel motor($750) and Intercooler pump ($700).
Stay tuned for driving in winter. Anyone recommend some all season tires for this thing?

2003 C32
that's about right. With my stock engine, I always get around 17mpg, and drive city 90% of the time. If you're worried about gas, but otherwise like the C32, get a C55.

Ha, I feel cheated then. 50% less power... worse mileage

Hey there, proeasy. I live in Michigan, and a C32 is my daily driver. I have a winter car though, so it's about to get parked (the first day the snow flies). The combination of the cool weather and relatively low altitude here make for decent gas mileage, if you can keep your foot out of it. I get ballpark 20 MPG for a combination of city/highway, and that's still accellerating faster than anyone else at the light (I can't help myself). When I'm in WOT play mode with the 'vettes/bimmers/WRXs of the world, I still get ~16.8 MPG. When we take trips on the highway, we average MUCH better - around 26-27 MPG, and that's higher speed cruising, too!
As far as the roads here, the C32 is more stiffly sprung than the last sport-packaged 3-series I had, but less stiff than an E46 M3. It has enough suspension travel in stock form for every bumpy road I've encountered. It's got enough reasonable play room that I plan to upgrade to lightweight 18" rims and either Renntech or H&R springs - but don't listen to everyone on this site that will tell you to go to 19" rims. Michigan roads are just way too uneven!
As far as any issues to look for, here's a thread about that.
Contact me if you buy one - we'll meet up!

my average over 9300 miles is 23.2mpg for the C32 (bought with 43k miles)
so far for my c200k clk cab 1500 miles average 31.5mpg (car from new)
I share both cars with my wife so its a good comparison. incidently my average over 9500 miles with my clk 270cdi was 43mpg in the time I had it from new.
Great achievment for c32
