AMG vs. M vs. Audi S (SoCal-Track Day)

Would anyone be open to organizing a track day (Drag Strip) where AMG challenges BMW's M and Audi's S?

We should have a stock vs. stock challenge and a best of the best challenge, anything goes.

Any ideas?

If we can get something going at California Speedway I'm pretty some of us SD guys would be willing to make the 90 minute trip. There was another thread where they wanted to rent out LACR in Palmdale for a day. Not sure if the SD guys would be willing to go that far plus it's in the mountains so elevation comes into play.

I am sure we could get California Speedway, we just need to call them and get a date. It will cost some money, but we could have an entry fee for racers???

We should organize this, it would be insane.

Cali Speedway is 1/4 mile. I and others would be willing to pay an entrance fee as long as it's a reasonable number. Nothing is free nowadays.

I will give Cali Speedway a call next week and look into the details. Can you guys start spreading the word with the M and S guys?

The challenge is on!

Should we open it up to all classes or limit it to the CAMG vs. M3 vs. S4?

It would definately be cool to see E55's take on the M5 and RS6's.

Info on auto club dragway at california speedway...

$20 admission for racers. $10 general admission. First 400 cars only. It would be cool if we saw a bunch of AMGs there. Sat, Jan 14, 2006. I hope my engine work is finished by then. Sounds like it would be fun and $20 is cheap.

That is cool and definately cheap. I am down to go on the 14th, but we might want to consider renting the track for the day...depending on how much it costs and how many people we could get to come including the BMW and Audi boys.

What does everyone think?

It would be pretty cool to have stock cars race and gather some footage to close all arguments over which car really is faster. Even more importantly, we should try and bring out our best modified cars against their best...at least in SoCal. There are some pretty serious M3's and S4's that are worth battling for bragging rights at least.

i know about 4 or 5 people that would b down to roll.

why not?
as long as we know the people.... the more the merrier (and cheaper)

I would love to run my c32 as is: and i have a buddy with a IS350 which he raves about his car.

I can bring him along.. to see if he can break into the 13's as the magazines have clocked.

Has anyone kicked the idea around with the BMW and Audi guys?

Also, who has the fastest C32 or C55 that we could challenge with...in SoCal?

I can post up in the BMW forums (bimmerforums, e46fanatics, m3forum, etc) to gauge the amount of interest if you'd like. Someone who came from the Audi world should probably take care of the Audi forums as I don't even know where to start.

Maybe we can get dragonAMG to make the trek from Sin city. Should be a 2.5 hour drive for him. Anyone know where BennyZ is located? I'm sure evosport has some pretty fast cars too.

sdsilverm3: keep us posted on the bimmers.

AMG_55: great.

I will post on the Audiworld and see if there is any interest.

Here are the threads that I've started in the BMW forums. I'm going to post on Roadfly too but I've gotta strap on my flame suit. Them guys over there always have their flame throwers on stand-by with the safety off.

Cali Speedway No Good - Options

Called Cali Speedway. It is about $6K for the day, and they don't have any weekends available.

We could look at Irwindale, but it is 1/8 mile.

LACR is another option.

Any thoughts?

No weekends available? That blows! I guess we'll just have to go during the grudge matches they have going every now and then. The next one is January 14th I believe.

We have 2 1/8 mile tracks down in SD and that's not long enough. LACR is an option but i don't know if the SD folks are willing to make that trip. I probably would but can't speak for others. Hmm....trying to think but nothing happens at the moment.
