Compustar or Viper alarm system?

Hey guys, i am wondering if any fellow members have any experience with aftermarket alarms for their cars...i inquired it and some guy at concepts on wheels here in toronto wanted to charge me 1200 for an installation of the compustar alarm w/o autostart...i think its ridiculous, he says they dont' know what kind of 'brain' that the computer uses for the c32 so its gonna be lots of man hours and at the end wit no good results possibly...please advise me...the stock alarm isn't good enough for me...thanx...

what's wrong with the stock alarm? if your car every does get stolen, i've heard that teleaid can track the car through GPS and work with police to get it back. similar to lojack. $1200 seems outrageous.

i'm thinking you're doing this because you want auto-start.

cutting into the wiring would void the warranty? i wouldn't do it.

the best way to protect your car is to leave it home, get your self a honda as a daily driver. I know how you feel but no alarm will protect your can from thugs who like to key cars and steal your hood star...

Hearsay has it that my choice for the best remote car alarm is two armed security professionals parked in a vehicle near yours whom are paid to protect it and to aggressively 'dissuade' anyone from harming it in any manner -- I also hear that it is expensive, though.... LOL

hmm i guess that's slightly more practical that my favorite which is waterproofing the car, filling it with water, and having sharks (with freaking laser beams attached to their heads...because every animal deserves a warm meal) patrol the waters...oh yeah, and the sharks would be able to breathe air in case the thief broke the window and let all the water out.

You think that I'm kidding? It is the only way to protect a car of very high value - that and insurance.
