20x10 & 20x9 Wheels on C55?

Can anyone give me a recent thread on this subject?

I want to install 20x10 and 20x9 wheels on my 2006 C55.

Does anyone know if they will fit without modifications to suspension or fenders?

I know most of you have installed 19"s but I want to take it to the max.

Would I have to cut the fenders? What is the correct bolt pattern (5 x 112)?
What is the correct offset 38, 37 or 35? Would a 3.79, or 3.75 lip create a problem?

I think people are trying to still figure out if 19x10's will work without major fender mods. With that said, I don't think you can do 20's let alone 20x10.

You're right about the bolt pattern but I'm not sure about the offsets.
IMO, I can't imagine 20's looking very good on a c class

as far as i know there is only one person on this board, who has 20's on his w203. you'd probably be best of asking him what he had to do. unfortunatly i dont remember his nick. maybe someone else is able to tell you his name

I'm pretty sure he was banned a while back.

I agree. I think the 19s are just perfect for the C55. 20s may be overkill. Also, adding bigger wheels = more weight, resulting in a drop in performance. You car is already super charged so you may not care about the extra weight. Whatever you do, please don't get chrome wheels.

Try to keep 2 words in mind... Form and Function

GOod luck with trying to make them fit on a C55. Even tougher if you want any amount of lowering.

Thanks for the advice about not chroming the wheels. Don't want them too pimped out. Why would'nt 20" rims look good?

I think the larger 20" wheels should give me better traction on take-off being that it would be more difficult for the wheels to spin. Wider 285 tires would also help with traction. Does anyone agree or disagree?

They look too big for the body of the C-class. Unless you have a ground effects kit to compensate the car looks like a Escalade on 26's (if that's possible). Your performance might be affected negatively with the 20's as well.

BTW, saw your car at the LA Autoshow. Lookin' good. Too bad nobody was there to pop the hood.

I agree with the group.

1) 20's just look TOO big on this car. It's not an SUV.

2) I would challenge if you would really get better performance from the tire. 285 vs 275? Not sure if it's going to make a huge difference. In fact, even if it were a better patch, the wheel weight would definately offset the tire advantage. Plus, It's harder to find performance wheels that size.

3) I'm sure the ride quality will suffer quite a bit. Assuming you're going to keep the same stock diameter, you either run stock 225/40/18, 19x10 w 275/30, or 20x10 w 285/25.

225/40/18 25.08" diameter, 3.54" sidewall
275/30/19 25.49" diameter, 3.24" sidewall
285/25/20 25.61" diameter, 2.80" sidewall

Do you really want to go with that thin of a sidewall? Pretty harsh ride I'd imagine. The 275/30/19 seems like a more reasonable combo.

Btw, if you do get 20's, get the spinners like Vader13 mentioned. Make sure you pick up the quality ones from Walmart. I especially like when they rotate at different speeds and when they more rattle than spin. Qual - it - ty!

It's looks unanamous! Nobody likes the 20" inch wheels so far. I wonder if anyone can link me to some pics of a C Class with these just for ****s and grins! The 18" stock AMG wheels actually look small to me and 19" is just inch wider so it doesn't appear to make much of a difference. So nobody thinks traction can be improved? In terms of Brand. What is the most popular and highest quality Wheels for MBs? Brabus, Carlsson, Kleeman, Lorinser, Renntech or Wheel specialists like HRE, LOWENHART, etc...Can anybody give me their top 5 choices?

Dude they are heavy, exspensive, poor ride, make your car SLOWER, stupid looking, played out (if ya did 20's some fools would be all yo, why did you not do 24's)
Basically anything above 19's on any performance car is pointless and boarderling ghettofab.
My fav wheel is the Brabus V1 19's for AMGs, but these HRE fanbois will say different, becuase of cost and the weight of German Tuner Wheels.

Based on the pics. They REALLY don't look very good. Well put Vader! I was shopping the Brabus and HRE's as well but will consider what other forum members an offer. i want to be thorough as possible. I know wheels are a personal preference but there is something to be said about consensus opinions.
