Cruise Control Help???

I have a 02 C32 and my cruise control does not work. Is there a quick fix such as a fuse or something simple. If anyone can help I would appreaciate it. Thanks

Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't come up with anything.

My cruise control hasn't worked since the day I bought it. It simply won't turn on. I tried looking looking up to see if there was a fuse for the cruise control but I couldn't seem to find anything.

Any ideas other than taking it to the shop?

If I can't find an easy solution, I'll probably just go without it.

If an ESP/BAS module is out, then the cruise control will not operate. You need to take it to the dealer and have them plug it into the StarDAS machine to find out which module is bad.

Single biggest

cause ......Tire size.
post your front and rear tire specs.
will it work at speeds below 35mph or not at all?
Vacuum leak can also prevent it from working but that should throw a code.
Any check engine light?Have you scanned for codes?
ohlord
esp/abs module would most likely throw a code and he could read that with the $60 94169 obd2 scanner from

This probally has nothing to do with your car but I know on my BMW 540 when I changed out the diff to the M5 3.15 gears that made my cruise stop working. I guess it goes in line with the tire size and the rolling diameter that hits the pavement.

No check engine light and it does not work at all. Not even at lower speeds.

I ran a scan and the only fault code was PO456. EVAP Emission Control System Leak Very Small.

Front's are 225/45/17.
Rears are 255/40/17.

I'm assuming the StarDAS machine would show bad modules where the OBDII won't?

Can you tell I'm no mechanic?

You are

learning.Tire size is good on your selection within 1 rev per mile. The code could indicate a vacuum leak and cause problems in the cruise circuit.
throttle sensor, speed control sensor,or cruise control circuit.SDS will run the real time values and compare them to known values and point the way.If you were up here I have access to an sds for $75 flat rateShop around for an indie that has one.

I have a StarDAS machine and I can tell you that ESP/BAS modules that have errored out will not show up on an OBDII code reader.

You can run a full diagnostic of every module on the car within seconds of plugging the DAS machine in. It will tell you everything...

2002 C32 1987 190E 2.3 334K miles and going
Smile

i posted this info somewhere in this forum. My check BAS prompt came up.
When this happens, the brake lights won't work and the cruise control goes out.
I replaced the brake switch located below and behind the brake pedal.
Problem went away. Part costs about 90.00 bucks.
