When you reverse, your passenger side mirror lowers to see curves or side walks.
Go into the options of your car from your steering wheel until you find the parking assist option, activate it, put your car in reverse and see if it works. If it doesn't leave it, it will probably work one day out of the blue!

Eugene c55. You are Correct ! The mirror selection buton for the passenger side mirror must be pressed in/ activated. It's in the owners manual

Mine has been fixed like 5 times and keepson stopping my sunroof has been fixed once now it is not working properly either I contacted a Lemon Law attorney and they took my case. I red an 8 page article in News Week about Mercedes Benz was having tons of quality control issues cars where catching on fire their high end cars where not quality......I LOVE MY CARS MODS BY AMG engine is GREAT etc. but the C class electrical system sucks radio stops at time static sunroof right side marker bulb parking assist sub woofer vibrates and the dealership doesnt seem to hear it and will not fix it if they can not duplicate the noise. Other than those issues I love my car AMG's are awesome cars. I guess its a small price to pay for the performance I drive the car alot. I wasnt going to buy the extended warranty for 3000.00 but now I am having second thoughts..........2005 C55 AMG

the parking mirror aid usually stops working because it is turned off (incorrect mirror selected with buttons as previously described), mirror aid in turned off in the instrument clustor settings or "key dependent settings" in turned on which means that if you use more then one key then the settings are held in each individual key.
between these 3 things, i've never found a car that actually had a problem, always usuer error.

I just took my C32 in to get the parking assist mirror (among other things) fixed. I would tilt down when the car was in Reverse, but would not tilt back up when in gear. The tech said they reset the software for the mirror and now it works.
