new E55,used M5, wait for M3 or kleemanize my C55

these are my options:

keep my 05 C55 and kleemanize-- stage 3 kompressor, lsd, and bilsteins/coils
used 06 M5 15k loaded, not thrilled with smg in auto mode
new 06 E55 base model
or wait for the new M3 next fall

all money is nearly equal
what would you do and why?

thanks in advance

im waiting to test drive the m5 w/ 6speed.
i heard that on the 6spd you cant fully disable the dsc
if i like it after test drive i will ask around to see if any1 can overwrite it.

im also considering 997s (drove it, liked it) or Z06 (need to test drive)

i suggest you get a m5 w/ a stick.

i saw an e90 m3 on roberstson blvd. it had all that masking tape **** on it, they were testing it, didnt look too crazy.

just a though, the m3 will never be as fast as a m5

leave the c55 alone because it's money you'll never get back... the new m3 sounds fast and fun, but it's too far away, and frankly, not on the same league as the other cars. So the fight is between the M5 and E55... I'm a new benz owner and love my car, but I'll go with the M5 because of looks. The E55 just looks like too much of a soccer-mom car... and it won't handle like an M5.

Interlagos blue M5. If you have to have a proper auto then why is the new M3 even an option- go E55.

i voted wait for M3 i.e. do nothing to your C55.
We are not talking about a 2 yr wait, the M3 will be on sale in 2007.
otherwise, E55 is a nice try if you don't mind it is more bulky and feel inferior to its big brother E63.

I vote you RENNtech it stage 4 with the high boost SC! You'll be smoking SLR's!!!!!

This is true! Even buying a brand new car doesn't give the same feeling.

"Mod" the C55!

Sure the M3 will be on sale in 2007 but unless you would like to participate in BMW's rod bearing beta testing I'd suggest you wait.

Sorry, jumbled that. Meant to say new E55 or save up for the C63.

As for modding, yeah it's fun. But for the most part it's an unbelievable waste of money. As others have already said, you'll never get the money out of it when you begin to mod, plus you lose your warranty.

Cars in general are a waste of money. Whether you're modding or trading up there will be some money you'll never recoup so you'll have to decide whether or not you have that type of cash at your disposal. The fun factor of a stock car will eventually fade and then you'll either want to mod or upgrade again. It really comes down to what you will be happy with in the long run.

What is your need for the size of the car?

I choose modded C55, because I'm assuming you don't need a bigger car since the M3 is also in the list (I said modded C55...because I'm not sure which one would be better...Renntech or Kleeman!).

Yeah like what sdsilverm3 said. If you don't want to lose money by bonds and ride the bus. Seriously if your not looking to take a hit you shouldn't be buying any new car to being with. As for modding a car think of it as a expensive vacation the only difference is you can get some of your money back from it when its over. Lastly, your MB warranty is only void on that part you changed and will only totally void your warranty if a modded part can be proven to have caused catastrophic failure to other parts of the car.

Modding cars is fun and great, but seriously, if you really want a fast car you might as well by it from the get go. Instead of a C55, buy yourself a Porsche GT3 or something of that nature. Afterall, all the money you spend on "Kleemanizing" you could easily buy yourself something of that caliber.

Lastly, your MB warranty is only void on that part you changed and will only totally void your warranty if a modded part can be proven to have caused catastrophic failure to other parts of the car.
With respect to the warranty, it seems very black and white that dealers will only void warranty on replaced parts. What you say all sounds wonderful, but I think we all know that in reality dealers tend to take a different stance and will usually put up a bitter fight if there is any hint of aftermarker mods when in comes to warranty coverage. I prefer to spare myself that hassle.

I think that is quite an inane thing to say. First of all were not talking about buying a new car and the level of depreciation. We all know what a hit we take when one drives the car off the lot. We're specifically talking about modding and it's opportunity cost. Relatively speaking, you are better off spending the money you would on mods to buy a better and faster car. I think this holds especially true for our cars, since it costs inordinate amounts of money to even obtain a decent increase in performance. Just my 0.02.
