C32 AMG
The widest I could get my local tyre shop to go on the rear is 255 (stock is 245). I would've liked 265 but they are hard to get on 17's and would be unsafe.
The front's I didn't go wider, I see no point and it makes the car harder to steer.

thank you laza, wish everyone here answered as directly as you do.
some people act like since they have a high post count they can be total *****s about things. o well, been a member at dozens of forums and built cars that run 10's and 11's. never let it get to my head.
rant over.

I think 245 is the practical limit up front. The limit is not just the wheels but also the strut upright. The width of the tire is limited by with width of the rim and an 8-1/2" rim (the rear version) can handle 265s. The skinny front rims (7-1/2') are supposed to max out at 225s, but you won't rub anything until you go past 245s.
I use four rear-wheels on my C32 and have 245s all around. It's nice to be able to rotate tires front-to-back! Yokohama has some useful information on this topic.

PS: Don't let a few obnoxious types get you down. Worse yet, don't get sucked into a meaningless battle. Some people use a forum like this to compensate for "real world" shortcomings.

you guys are great. thank you for the reply's. i ended up sticking with the stock tire size for now, 245's as I got a good deal on 2 kumhos and have them on my z06 and m3 with good results.

There is alot to be said for someone who posts with an attitude. Speaking out is one thing, but from behind a monitor is weak. Thats how I look at it.
