Yes. A new body style (W204) is coming soon. The C55 will be replaced by a 400+ hp C63
Official W204 Thread

Here is the response from the AMG Private Lounge:

====================
"The C55 AMG has been produced for the United States market for Model Years 2005 and 2006.

Most U.S. AMG models' lifecycles are 2-3 years as with the C55 AMG. The C55 AMG will not be offered for Model Year 2007 although it will continue in other world markets.

Often, new safety and other regulations mandate vehicle modifications, which in the case of the U.S. version C55 AMG would have required significant product changes to continue for 2007. Please continue to visit the AMG Private Lounge periodically for the latest information on a potential AMG C-Class successor model."
====================

Additonal Info:
"The US sales total for model year 2005 C 55 AMG is around 1300 vehicles. Complete data for model year 2006 is not yet available.

We will look to add a section to the Private Lounge with sales infotmation for all AMG models in the future."

The C32 was available from 2002-2004 and the C55 from 2005-2006. That's the "2-3 years" of the quote. The C36 was made for two model years and the C43 for three, as well.

That's interesting. I guess it's the only AMG model that has that right? I mean the E55 was out for pretty long, as the SL, CL and S class as well. But thanks for the info, I guess if you're looking to get a C-Class AMG brand new, you better get it soon.

One of my local dealers has at least one.. In Carlsbad, CA. The dealers in OC have quite a few 06 c55's still available.

The W204 will make its debut in 2007 (likely in Geneva) and will be sold as a 2008 model. I think it is unlikely they will introduce the AMG version at the same time. It is more likely that the next C-AMG car will make its debut one year later in 2008 and sold as a 2009 model.

So I think you'll have to wait at least 1.5-2 years before you can actually buy the next C-AMG car in North America.

not trying to rain on the parade..
c230_2k2- I know I will get flamed for this, but just looking out for ya. The
C55 is awesome in everyway. It is my first luxury/sport sedan and I love it. I would never think of selling, but the Gallardo is calling my name. That being said, the values on these cars have plumeted. We have considered selling ours for a Gallardo and am shocked to see dealers offering between 38-40k. Not one, but about 4 different dealers all said the same and they all were happy enough to show me the auction reports. We just bought a Cayenne S and for kicks we wanted to see what they'd give. Right on par with everyone else-40k. For reference, mine has 2,400 miles is fully loaded and has the K40. You can buy new 06 C55's for dead invoice as I did. So, be cautious when buying a C55 new. Buy at or near invoice or buy mine

My take on the car. Its beautiful, rides great, and does everything very well. Absolutely nothing to complain about except resale value. Hope this helps and not trying to offend any fellow mber's.

MercedesFTW- I've seen some crazy things on the web and some people just love to troll threads. My main objective is to help c230_2k2 get into a great car, but at the best reasonable price. I'm not upset about the values going down because I love the car and may end up just keeping it. But there is no reason for a new buyer to take a beating if buying new from a dealer. I like to keep the palying field fair

O.T., I'm really concerned about the look of W204 that I've seen so far.
I've never been a big fan of W203 rear/c-pillar body panel. From a certain angle looks like a hunchback. I almost want to slide the whole cockpit 4-6" to the front to give a tad more length of trunk lid surface. I dont know..

360_iti- I thought I was OT since he said he stated he was about to make a purchase.) Now that I have re-read it, I guess I assumed he knew the 06's were the last of the C55's. Either way, I agree with you on the new look of the 204.

360_iti- Nothing harsh intended. I thought you just meant I was off topic. But, I do think its funny what you said about sliding the cockpit 4-6" forward. I was just thinking that the other day and thought I have got to be the only one who would think that The important thing is for him to get a fair deal for the current C55 or wait and check out the new 63. I am very happy with the current model, but would love a few extra HP from a newer model. Its a never ending quest........
