Sorry for the redundancy, but I need to drive home the point the C5 Z06 you raced was obviously not driven correctly, and w/Tune and non-runflat tires the C6 enters this league easily, those 12.5xx runs I listed were on ****y run-flats............................................. .................................................. .............................................
118 traps on a Bone stock C5 Z06 is an Anomaly as well.......almost all will only trap in the 114-115 range on 93 Octane. Not to mention Englishtown (along with Atco) is a "fast strip" itself, this has been proven (all New Jersey tracks are downhill is the joke) lol Anyways....point is, I've seen Z06's at the strip in Fontana only "barely touch" 110-111 mph traps. It all depends on what conditions, track prep, car prep, and of course the biggest variable, driver itself. A good driver can shave seconds off 60' foots, ET's, and add trap mph's to a run. I have no doubt Fongflex's C32 ran what it ran (without NOS). Some cars are freaks, and stronger than others. 114 trap is not "out of the question"......but like you said....but it is an anomaly, just like stock Z06's that trap 117-118. I've pulled C5 Z06's handily (from 50-130 even hitting 140ish) on pumpgas in my car, and my car prob traps about 114-115 on pumpgas. Best way to find out is to just run them. Is your C6 stock? We'll be doing some runs next week......in the LA area (could even make it SFV so it's closer to you) if you wanna come down. FrankW could join us and we can go out there and have some real world fun and forget magazine #'s and such. I'll PM you with details

There are more mid to upper 12 second C32's in the What are your best times at the drag strip? thread.

A modded C32 can easily get into the 12's.

I will extend the same invite you. If you want to run, or are ever the the Chicago area, let me know. I would love to do a few pulls with you. PM me with details.

As far as the weight goes, I'll weigh my car again next week, but I'll be willing to bet that your car weighs 200lbs less. Again, my car stock with the spare tire was 3510 with some gas. I have since removed the spare tire, resonator, cats, heavy MB battery, and the soon to be installed CF hood and Eisenmann Exhaust should help too. I'm guessing all of those are good for 150lbs... What do you guys think?

So, with little gas, my C32 should weigh around 3360. With you car weighing in at 3179, that puts us a difference of 181 lbs. Not to mention that if I were to run with a C6 that had a full tank of gas, there would be a difference in weight of less than 50 lbs if it's true that a gallon of gas weighs 8.3 lbs and you have an 18 gallon tank.

No hard feelings, I do think that you have to stand your ground every now and then.

I apologize for using the word "Smoked" too loosly. Where I come from if you lost the race, you got smoked!

Cool, if you need somewhere to host it let me know and I'll add it to my website.

Remember that link that I sent you for the Chevy Vette fest here in Chicago? If so, then there was a red C6 that attended. After I left work, two of my buddies and I ran into him getting on the interstate. Needless to say that I was toying with him going around 60, and he finally got upset or noticed what I was doing and took off. I could never pass him, but I did manage to stay close to the rear.

Also, I posted a 3 kill in the kill stories section. One of them was a C6 and I only managed to walk him on one of the runs, with him pulling away the first time. It seems as if the C32 gets the jump, or there is any hesitation on the part of a C6 driver, the C32 has a chance to win.

The 11.97 @ 118 is not anamoly, as you will soon see the mph goes up & 1/4 times go down w/even better drivers

Corvette Forum > C5 Corvettes, 1997 - 2004 > Z06 Discussion
The C5 Z06 Fast List

The purpose of the list is to consolidate data to answer the question, “What kind of quarter-mile times do these C5 Z06's run?

The Chevy spec for the quarter mile is:
2001 (385 horsepower)………...12.6 114
2002-2004 (405 horsepower)…12.4 116

As can be seen on the Fast List, some owners manage to beat the Chevy spec on their best passes.

2002 C32 and 2009 Audi S5
I owned a 98 C5 and now own an 02 C32. I can tell you from experience they are close, but the vette will take the c32 with a good launch by both cars. There is no "smoking" by anyone, but the C5 is just a bit stronger.

In the twisties, same deal, stock for stock.

But having four doors and a nicer interior is what puts the 32 on top in my mind.

I attended that Rose Bowl meet, is this the car you saw?

I met many nice people at that GTG!

My car has since been thru a makeover; The ProCharger D1SC system has been replaced with a custom twin-turbo setup to compliment the 402 head/cam built motor....and a few cosmetic upgrades.

Thericker too.....if you guys wanna meet up and set something up, even say in the San Fernando Valley area.....I'd be down. I can get some interesting cars to come out and do some fun runs/comparisons. Let me know

PS. 1FASTC32.......sorry, but there is no way a stock C32 is going to take down a C6 Vette......maybe if the Vette was in 6th gear when you guys started
We have a Valley Vette club that meets monthly/bi-monthly in Northridge, most of the C5/C6 toyboxes are well modded including FI and always up for a challenged...all in good fun. I don't get to this forum much any more, but I'll try to stay in touch.

BTW: PROPS, that's a sweet looking Audi.

Thank you Sir for the compliment!

That must be my buddy Jack's C5Z (719rwhp); silver car with carbon fiber accents, blk wheels and the hardware is a ProCharger D1SC, I will surely let him know you admire his car.

Actually yes, there is a GTG next Sat., however I'll be in San Diego. The following Sun. Jan 21st, we have a Block of OC meet at 8am, afterwards we do a canyon run. It'a a larger crowd; 50-60 cars than the Valley meet. Feel free to stop by we are all car enthusiasts.

yea, that's exactly the one. saw it at one of the Bimmer meets at UCLA. I was looking at his car more than the couple Ferraris and Lambo's that was present. anyone rich enough can have a Ferrari or Lambo, but not everyone can have a nicely modded car.

well i'm not a drag racing guy but i did pull with a c6 back in 2004? (it was the new vette for sure) and it was dead even, this was from a roll on.

at the (real :-) race track i have been close to c5s and faster than the previous generation. but the driver become a huge factor once you stop going in a straight line so that makes comparions invalid. still, the speed of the c32 is evident from say..30 mph on. after traction becomes a non issue.

last yr at pocono north i had a gto (350hp) driven by an ex racer all over my tail during warmup....when we went green i let him thinking he would be faster on the infield. he was not. next lap i passed him on the banking very easily.

general observations
the vettes have more rubber and less weight, all huge factors from a standing start.

the c32 has very good gearing and makes max power near redline. c32 can pull redline in 5th. i have read that the car will top out at 190+ if rear diff is changed. the amazing Cd of 0.27 will allow this.

i'm not knocking the vetts....indeed i tried to buy a c6 z6 when they came out but my local dealer was a moron. bought a f355 and don't regret it for one min. (love the view/feel of italian cow's ****!)....anyway...there's more to cars than just speed but that may not be a popular opinion on this forum.

question for thericker-
what's redline on a c6? do you have the gear ratios handy?

In the twisties, same deal, stock for stock.

But having four doors and a nicer interior is what puts the 32 on top in my mind.

Not really on the topic of racing, but being that I live in Louisville, I see about 40 new Vettes a day. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 C32s ever around here. Vettes are sweet, but way too common for my taste.

I have been a long time lurker on this site. Huge fan of everything AMG.

First lol at the vette guys. I see the same exact stuff on the SRT4 board. My car can't lose eva!

I would also like to know what mags have gotten 12.2 for a stock C6.

Not every C6 runs deep into the 12's. In fact, I go to the drag strip alot. And I have yet to see a stock C6 run better than 12.9. Everything else is low 13's.

You guys have to remember what D/A the car was run at. Like Ranger's last time for his C6 z06 was done in like negative 1500 d/a. Can't use those times to compare. If I had that type of air when I ran my srt-4, it would have trapped 107-108. Which is beyond the norm for that car.

The worst thing about the C6 is the TM. Once you get pass that, they can get going from a dig. But the TM kills the car from a dig.

And anything can happen on the street or at the track. The C6 is very far from unbeatable. Go pick a fight with a E55 . But on avg the C6 should win vs a c32. But like said before, the modded C32 can trap 110 and I believe I saw a mph high as 114. That is more than enough to beat or run with a stock C6.

All and all they are both nice cars. No reason to have a hissy fit if someone says they beat your type of car

EDIT: Here is a vid of my old 02 T/A, intake only. Vs a C6.

No way right? he has 20more whp and weighs 400lb less. He should have passed me like I was standing still.

Are you kidding w/that stupid video?? the C6 sat or spun at the line for a few sec's then you still barely beat him by a length or 2

Seriously you guys will say anything to try & make your stock or modded C32's trounce a C6

Go look at all the Mag's they have a 12.2xx C6 I've seen it before (can't remember which) It's a M6 that was properly driven..

I love how you guys throw Rangers times out but put that Fong Characters times as truth, when they both ran at the same track, another thing, 1st your argue your weight hp disadvantage doesn't matter, then you throw times out because as you put it "Only certain tracks spit out real #'s the rest are fake because of DA, or made to be downhill grades

Well you might as well throw out nearly every good low 12 or sub 12 run a E55 or C32 has run at Dragtimes, cause there all at this super track

No matter what 1/4 mile proof I find or put up you guys will still throw it out blaming something I'll let my C6 speak for itself like I did when I BEAT Falco from this forum in his SLK55 yeah, yeah, C6 is slower than all your amg super cars, now your throwing up c32's trapping 114

Enjoy your dream world

Ohh yeah muster up a STOCK E55k yes I'll race and be dead even w/one any day of the week, bring someone to video it please...

i think i might be able to get a stock E55 to come out for next weekend......it'll bee fun to see. Even with weight disadvantage.....an E55 will/should be faster than a C6 Vette, hands down...in my exerience

I can't use it because I didn't run it, but my buddy has a Stock M6 C6 ran an E55k from a dig, and a roll they were both stock and dead even, I think I can do the same, If not It's allways fun to run a faster car

Plus if you look at the average STOCK E55 1/4 the C6 Auto A4 or A6 is right there...12.5xx or less the E55's do trap a lil higher so it should be a fun race..

I'm not a hater of Merc's that's why I'm here I used to own a Supercharged heavily moded 2001 Sclass (slow Piggy) Therre beautiful fast cars..And great to run against..hell I can't find anything else around SB, besides Rice Cakes, that want to race me that's another reason I come here... I have to go to LA to find some real Comp
