Talking Latest mod.. New 07 Chrome Key ;)

So I found a thread over on the C36/C43 forum discussing the new 07 chrome keys. Turns out we can order these for our cars. I have linked the thread below with the part numbers. Looks like you can get them for about $50 bucks, I paid $80 from my dealer.

Two of my keys are pretty hammered.. one was like new, the one I was using.. I actually wanted to get one last time I had a loaner. Glad I did, its a very nice key!

so will this work then...

Remote part# 211 766 36 06 9999
Blade part #203 766 50 06
Yes, this is exactly right. Ask for these part numbers and they will ask for your vin number. They will probably say thats not the right key, but it will definitely work.

Thanks but where does the blade go...I don't see any blade on my current key
The blade slides in the key and is the silver thing on top that connects to your key ring.

IS THAT INCLUDING PROGRAMING? how much is total for the new key
I paid $93 total.. key, blade, programming.. You can get it done cheaper I've heard, but I just went to my familiar parts guy and didn't want to hassle over 30 bucks..

It's for valet. So you can leave your car key and take your other keys with you.

Same thing when going to the dealer.. I leave my key in the ignition and put the loaner key on my blade with keys attached..

Just put in the parts numbers. I was going to do it this way but ended up using my dealer.

some people did seem to have problems with their order from oempartsdirect but I think it was just because of the sudden demand for these keys and the large volume of people placing their orders through the holiday season. I have placed my order with them on the 4th and was confirmed with UPS tracking number to receive on the 17th. I think as long as you provide your VIN # on the order and then fax in your proof of ownership info you will be okay.

FYI: another member found an MB dealer selling these for even cheaper online, it will come out to around $54 shipped! Use at your own risk though as I have no experience with them. Try them out and let us know... http://www.duvalmotorcars.com/.

here is the part # again for ref:

07 Key: 211 766 36 06
Blade: 203 766 50 06

Last edited by ultraman206; Jan 13, 2007 at 01:32 PM. Reason: adding part #

yep, trademotion.com... many online auto parts and dealerships that sell parts online use this. the important thing is to find a retailer with good customer service and so far oempartsdirect sucks but ppl here have ordered through them and have received them. I may be ordering some stuff through duvalmotorcars.com (I find they are the cheapest so far) in the near future and will let everyone know my experience.

FYI,

Those of you in IL. I called several dealerships and found out they each carry their own price. I was able to order mine from MB-Orland Park for $59+$8 plus tax.

07 Key: 211 766 36 06 ($59)
Blade: 203 766 50 06 ($8)

By the way, the correct part# for the key is 211 766 36 06 NOT 211 766 36 06 9999....right?

Motorwerks in Barrington will NOT do it. I had an argument with service and parts guys for like half an hour.

However, Hoffman Mercedes (owned by Motorwerks) will do it. I went to parts, and some lady that looked like she really didn't care for her job ordered the set for me at the same price as OEMpartsdirect.

This is again for Illinois. And...mainly around the Chicago area.
