Freeeeeeeeeedom!!!!

Guys, it's been fun, but I sold my C32 yesterday and picked up an 07 Altima SL. Honestly, the sense of relief once the C32 was gone was tremendous. Between the 1500 RPM jerk, tranny made of paper-mache, glycol contamination, and countless other costly issues, I couldn't be happier. This forum has been great, but I probably won't be around much in the coming years. When MB starts taking their QC seriously, I'll start devoting dollars to Deutschland. Until then, thanks for all the good info, and happy driving!!

C32 to an Altima?
that's one heck of a down grade IMO.

Did you do a straight trade or did you have to pay more?

I still owed a bit on the C32. Depreciation on this puppy was *not* pretty, but I got the Altima at invoice, so my new payment is negligible.

100% of Mercedes owners would agree with you. In terms of speed, fun-factor, and snob appeal, I would agree with you. In every other aspect, the Altima is a superior car (barring massive reliability issues, of course).

It's funny... The only thing I really miss about it is the perfect sports-seats. Those things were heaven. Other than that, I'm honestly glad it's gone.

I assume your C32 was out of warranty? My C32 had the tranny jerk and the dealer replaced the radiator, tranny etc, the total would've been $11k+ if it weren't covered under warranty. I didn't have any major issues with my car but too many small nuissance problems that drove me nuts.

I had a similar feeling you did when I dumped my C32. As soon as the factory warranty expired, I was finished with the car. I even had a CPO warranty but didn't want imagine paying for anything that wasn't covered.

Different strokes for different folks. Sure, some C32's have some issues. They are uber high performance cars. It's to be expected.

Going from a C32 AMG to an Altima? An Altima? I don't get that. Kinda like divorcing Heather Locklear because she's too hot and hooking up with Ellen DeGeneris instead.

Your analogy is so far off...

But to keep that same theme going it, it would be more like divorcing Heather Locklear because she ended up having genital warts that prevented you from banging away so you hooked up with a no-name broad that was clean and STD free.

This would imply that the entirety of my social life consisted of, "Hey look, that guy drives a Benz."

It doesn't.

on the slow lane thing, though... 270 hp is not 349.

Sorry don't take it wrong way.
Maybe social suicide- little to harsh, but you've got to admit, this is major downgrade going from MB to Nissan.
My appologies if I offended you in any way. I did not mean any harm.
Keep on driving and be safe.

Yea, they are everywhere, but trust me, there's nothing 'rental car' about it (at least not the trim I bought). I don't think rental cars come with leather, heated-seats, bluetooth, bi-xenons, CVT, touchless entry, and satellite radio... as standard equipment.

Trust me, guys. I've owned everything from busted-*** Hondas to a 911 Turbo. The Altima is two steps ahead of the C32 in terms of luxury, technology, and convenience, and (hopefully) reliability. To be fair, the Merc was a 6-year old car, and there are now advances that weren't available at the time. HID headlights, anyone?

If it were a new C63 vs. a new Altima, I'd agree with you guys, but 2007 Altima > 2002 warranty-less C32 .

Nah, dude. No harm taken. I think in terms of *perception*, it was a downgrade (women don't approach me nearly as much, which I'm sure my girlfriend loves). The guys I work with gave me a hard time about it, too, so I understand what you mean about social suicide. Heck, even my dad was like, "A Nissan? Are you doing alright financially?" The first assumption is that I couldn't afford the Benz, which in some ways was true. It wasn't financially wise to shell out $2k every 3 months for repairs on a 6-year-old car, imho. I've got a house to keep up! My last three cars were an an E46 M3, E46 325i, and an M-B E420, so people that know me thought I had lost my mind by going Altima. Truth is, I'm tired of shelling out big bucks for high-maintenance cars. Driving dynamics aside, the Nissan is every bit as good!

Very good call dude, the right lane is empty half the time while the oldtimers hug the median trying not to get ran into, its ultimately frustrating and if I'm not flashing my highbeams I'm honking. I've truly become a BMW a$$hole.
