Opinion on C32 as daily driver?

I'm in the market for a C32 as the daily driver.. My GF will be the main driver and I might drive it for longer trips. I'm looking at a '02 right now, the car has done 16K miles (normal in Hong Kong) and looks to be well taken care of. The price is reasonable, and the owner was honest enough to tell me that he rear ended someone a while back, nothing serious to the chassis but the radiator was replaced

I guess that is good news, but I can't see if it's the Valeo or not. Other than that, the entire car looks brand new inside out. My question is, Valeo problem aside, is C32 good as a daily driver maintaince wise? This is supposed to be a brainless trouble free ride for my GF so is this even a good idea or am I better off with maybe a C320? Thanks

yo man i am from hong kong also, if you think you can afford the gas price in hong kong i will say C32 for sure .. but just to let u know this car i only can drive around 300km.. if yr gf will be the main driver i think C320 or C230 Komp. will be a gd idea ^^

I assume HK driving is not like other areas. But the C32 is as good a daily driver as any Benz -- except for the fuel consumption. That's what makes it a great car. It can run with the top performance cars, but there really is no compromising on day-to-day driving. Easy to get in & out, comfortable, reliable.

It's great, but in heavy urban traffic it's super expensive. I get less than 10 miles per gallon living in downtown Chicago. It's not such a big deal because I usually only drive 10-15 miles per day total, but it still hurts sometimes.

One of the issues I'm going to have them look at when I go for a Service B next week.

+1

I've had my 2003 C32 for about 10 months now as a daily driver and I couldn't be more impressed - no problems at all. But man alive, does it ever drink gas in stop-and-go traffic.

+5. I agree with the others. The C32 is an excellent daily driver, but fuel consumption can be an issue. I get 19mpg with mixed driving.

pair that with a small fuel tank and you have to fill up w/ idiot bush driven gas prices at least once a week depending on how much you drive.

Thanks guys! Glad to hear it's very reliable I'm not so much worried about the fuel consumption since I'm pretty used to that, but thanks for the heads up

My mechanics looked at the car today and found the car to be "sandwiched" at one point, nothing major like the owner said, but there're visible trace both front and back... Not sure if I should take this one or wait, there aren't that many good condition C32 in HK though.

And did C32 came with spare tire? I don't see any tire fixture nor those gas inflat thingy in the trunk, just wonder was it damaged and removed... Thanks again!!!

I believe a sunroof/moonroof "delete" was an option. The roof was standard.

I agree with everyone above, excellent daily driver, comfy and fast. Very low-key, doesn't attract cop's attention.

Go and test drive it, pay attention to the tranny, some tranny problem starting to appear here (not smooth at low rev and changing from 1st to 2nd). Mine is not ultra smooth after I did the useless service campaign.

I assume that the C55 and C32 have similar fuel consumption, and in fact, I dont think C AMGs have bad gas milage at all. My R350 has got almost the identical gas milage, that is 18.2L/100km.
