Linguatronic - Have it / Use it?
I have had linguatronic in my car since I bought and I didn't even know it. I knew the handle was there, but someone removed the D2B cable from the loop and it never worked. When I installed my Comand a few weeks ago, I hooked it up, and I must say that it is freakin cool.
I like not having to take my hands off the wheel for phone / radio / cd / nav functions.
Do you have it and do you use it?

I have wanted it but never knew if any programming was necessary. You just plugged into the loop and you were done??

No programming needed. There is a module next to the SOS box in the trunk, on the drivers side. I plugged in an extra D2B cable and it worked with both the old radio / tape deck and the new comand.

Do you have a blinker like stick on the right hand side of the steering with two pictures of a microphone on it? If so, then you have it. If not, all you need is the stick and the VCS module / D2B cable.
I found a WIS a while back that had instructions on installing it afterwards and it seemed pretty easy.
Here are some pics....different car, but at least you can see the stick and its location.

Linguatronic works best with phone features (stored names or even saying individual numbers). I am impressed with it's accuracy although it is not completely perfect. You can even say several numbers at once and it will wait till you pause and then verbally confirm (I can get about 7 digits in without problem). If it does make a mistake on one of the last digits, here's a quick tip: just say "CORRECT" and it will remove the last section of numbers (i.e. the last 4 digits will be removed (in a (xxx) xxx-xxxx format) and all you have to do is say those numbers rather than starting from scratch).
One weird feature (which is not listed on the manual) is you can touch the linguatronic lever and say "navigation" and it will switch to Navigation on your COMAND, however you cannot input individual addresses by voice (which is a shame b/c this is where I find myself getting distracted a bit while driving and trying to put the info in (I know a big NO-No)
The other uses for linguatronic (change radio stations, switch to radio, change CD's, switch to CD, etc I find just a lot easier to hit the button, so it really isn't too much of a big deal to use it)
Anyone else find some hidden voice commands for linguatronic?

I can say a phone number almost as fast as I can and it nails it every time. Why can't my voice dial on my cell phone be like that??

Funny huh? We had the damn thing and didn't even know it.
Pull the lever and say "help". The system will ask what you want help with and list all of the possible commands.

yup, it is pretty funny, i was telling one of my friends about it yesterday and trying to show him what i could do with it, but i just looked like an idiot because i didn't know what the commands were...stupid VA just kept giving me error messages...lol
i had originally thought it was only for the phone, didn't know it was for other features on the car...it is like i just bought a new car again...lol
it is nice to know what the commands are now, at least now i won't look like a complete idiot anymore...
