Made up my mind.

Looks like the old c32 is going to be traded in for a brand new 335. Test drove it yesterday and the c32 is gone. Car just as fast + potential to be faster for cheap + brand new car, I was sold. Any body else having the same idea as me?

I'd be lying if I said it's never crossed my mind. Did you get the manual or automatic?

I'd be lying if I didnt say I think that car is ugly. It has no style whatsoever. BMW has really gone downhill the last few years in the looks department. Considering how much they cost new, I would rather pick up something with more power thats a few years old. Plus, potential to be faster than what...? An altima? A stock c32? Its always nice to get a new car, and congrats. If you like it, thats what counts. But I just dont see what the appeal is. The C32 is my 36th car, so I like variety. I dont know why someone would buy something so blah. Maybe I am just biased. I bought a new 330ci and had it lemoned within 1.5 months.

It's a great car, but i couldn't be happy knowing that the M3 is coming out soon and I have the "slow" model.

C32 AMG
When my C32 was in the shop for over a month I was ready to do the same thing. I didn't care. All I was looking at was equal performance, still a euro car, new car, no more C32 gremlins. But then I got my car back, drove it for a couple days and said screw it and decided to keep it....for now. Too many new models coming out within the next year to jump just yet if you ask me. With the new models coming out there will be some great deals on some very nice '06/'07 AMGs and M cars if thats what you're looking to stick with.

2002 C32 ///AMG
I rode in the 335 coupe and sedan, stick and auto, I liked it (kinda), but I like Mercedes interior more, and styling is a bit lacking on the bmw imho. And it sure is an expensive 3 series, I like the styling in the current M3 more than the 335 and I also don't think the 335 is quite as fast as the C32 or current M3 but it'd be a race.

isnt that a bit on the extreme side? hahaha

I would take a C55 over 335i. but I would give in anything under C55 to a 335i

I was BMW fan...owned two...loved them. But I hate, hate, hate the new bodies. In fact, that is the only reason that I migrated to MBZ. I am happy that I did find the 'other German product", but the looks of the BMW is what got me to the MBZ dealer. And the look will continue to keep me away from M3s, M5s and M6s.

All those who think BMW are the ugliest cars, look at the 6 people sitting right next to you and take note: 5 of them think it looks better than your car. And no, I'm not dissing the C32, I'm just dissing you. I hate these baseless agreements - I've been in BMW forums and they say the C32/C55 looks ugly (no it doesn't!) - in Audi forums and they say the BMW looks ugly, and here they say BMW's look ugly (no they don't!)... I mean of course they'll say that, cause they don't own one. Wait till someone wins a 335 in a lottery, see if they won't mind driving it or they'll say, "sorry Bob, I don't like this car, it's too ugly".

Anyway, back to the post. The idea of an M3 is a little ridiculous. I mean, people who buy the C350 would lovvvvve to have the C55, but guess what? They can't afford it, so they get the C350. Duh!

Personally, I think it's not a bad idea, in a couple more years the C32 will start looking dated (not exterior but the interior), the C55 still looks new, so now may be a good time to get the highest value for the car (which depreciates every day) and try something new. This means that you can sell your C32 to me! ... It may seems like a step down from an AMG to Non-M/AMG, but it's not really. The 335 is a delightful car 300HP/Torque, updated design, newer technology, new panels, newer look and currently the most sought-after and wanted sedan/coupe under $50K. It's amazing car, I've driven the coupe -- it's brilliant!

The 335 is definitely not as fast as a C32 or an M3. It also costs a hell of a lot for being a regular 3 series. It's cute though, it seems like every teenage girl here has one.

By the way, I do realize everyone's entitled to their own opinions ..

I'm just saying, they are all good looking cars, just some appeal better to others.

Huh? You understand that everyone has an opinion, yet you dis me for mine? How is an aesthetic argument baseless? Aesthetics are "to each their own"...there needs be no base. If I were arguing my C55 is faster on the track then a Porsche Cup car...which is not true..then my argument would be "baseless"....unless I could post times to prove it; right? Absent proof, it is baseless. For something where proof is an enigma, there can be no base.

Now for base, which is not needed here, but anyway, I owned a 7 and a 5. Loved everything about them. Then they changed...now they are ugly IMO. Thus, I did not buy a third BMW and went to Benz.

C55Vegas - Sorry, if I've offended you, but see my above post. I wasn't that serious, and yes we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I switched from a 2003 C32 to a 2007 335i after driving the C32 for 4 years.
You will not have any regrets whatsoever.
It is an amazing machine.
The handling and balance just can't be found in a stock C-class Mercedes.
Since it is a twin-turbo machine there is a lot of tuning potential, as stated.
The 100ms Steptronic is so much faster than the AMG Speedshift,
it is mated perfectly to that twin-turbo engine.
Read the reviews, it is a joy to drive this car.

I just always come back to the fact that there isn't anything out there that looks as good as our C32/C55 IMHO. The new BMWs are hideous to me. The w203 is just about the most bold and best looking thing out there at the moment. It's about as reliable as Yugo, but it looks great and is very comfortable to ride in.

A lot of us BMW guys think the C-Class is hideous. The door swings both ways man.

That it is...an opinion. I think that the bimmer 3 series as a whole looks much nicer than the C class benz as a whole...not to include the M and AMG cars.
Styling is way too subjective.

An aesthetic comparison is like comparing favorite colors. It's subjective. There is no right answer.

Personally, new new 3-series design is growing on me. I've owned 2 E46 BMWs (325i and M3) before my C32 but still prefer the C32... at least for now. Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll switch to Audi or Lexus. People change, tastes change.

Every few years a newer, faster, more enhanced model is introduced. If you must have the car with the most hp and features, then just lease a new car each year and switch between manufacturers. If I had a lot of money to burn, which I don't, it would be fun to do this.

IMO, enjoy what you have and try to curb the new car envy.

+1

I am a LOOOONG time BMW owner, been in/around them for three generations. I just hate how fat/porky and bulbous the Bangle-ized cars have become. Even the new 135i (if we do get one) is going to be over 3000lbs! I think I'm going to buy an E30 again - I miss BMWs that have impeccable build quality AND lightness.

I think you are underestimating the 335. With just the procede upgrades look at it humble the m3.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...rocede+335i+m3

I picked up a black 6spd with terra leather. IMO the 335 was a step up, a rather large one.
