I have Brabus 18's 255 40 18 in the rear
My back tires are bald. I got the car used and he claimed they should last 5000+
of course I have it for less then 1/2 that and they are bald
But I like how the Continentals are rated for 400A .
Im looking for something that will get me HIGH milage...
what do you think is best

While I like Continentals, you may be disappointed with those. It's an all season tire, which means it will not perform as well in summer as a summer tire and won't do as well in ice and snow as a winter tire. Buy true performance tires and get two sets if you need to (depending on where you live, Los Angeles lets you use summer tires 365).

It should tell you something when the first reviewer in the Tire Rack page says he likes the tires . . . on his Taurus. However, if what you really want is a high mileage tire (and if you're willing to sacrifice the grip of a softer stickier tire), then these may be just what you need.

I just got a set of these in 225/45/17 for my c55. I bought 17 inch OZ Ultraleggera wheels (16.7 lbs.) and these lightweight tires, (20 lbs.). So I reduced my unsprung weight at each corner by about 13 lbs, since the stock Amg 18 inch wheels with tire was about 53 lbs at each corner. I live in Minnesota so I wanted a year round tire. I don't drive the car when snow events are occuring. I can rotate front to back, and have softened the ride slightly. I've only got about 1000 miles on them but I expect them to last maybe 10,15 K miles. At $100 each I can replace them more frequently. With these lighter wheels, and everything in the trunk which I took out, I have reduced the weight of the car by 90 lbs. I'm very happy with the change.

I already put approx. 9500 miles on set in summer and winter in chicago
and I do not have a single complaint. If you are looking for summer tires there are much better choices to go with.IMO.

I just got a set of Nexen 3000's.. The tread is like 380 I think. I had MIchelin PS2's but they only lasted 10k miles, thus the switch to a deeper tread.
So far I am happy with them, plus the fact that they were 1/2 the cost of the michelins..

Yeah, I bought them new at a local shop. I actually need to swap my front tires cause they are rubbing. I went with 235's and they aren't working with my SLK55 front wheels. They bulge out a little and are rubbing on my head light leveling wires in the wheel well.. Pretty dumb place to put wires if you ask me..
sorry.. OT

man the Nexen 3000's is a good cheep tire, i have those on my car too, and i bought them after i burned out the P-Zeros. i got each new tire for like $100 cad installed. i just got 2 tires in the back for and it was $215.00 out the door. so for that $$ this is an amazing tire. and they grip 5 times better then the P-Zeros IMO.

How about Bridgestone RE960 AS Pole? Tread rating 400 AAA. Good review as far as I could tell from Tire Rack - seems to be consistently better than PS2
A lot cheaper than PS2 but a lot more expensive than Nexen mentioned above.

Anyone has any experience w/ these tires?

For whatever it's worth, I bought a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s for my car and they are just amazing. Quiet and very sticky compared to the old Pilot Sports that I had previously.

Also, this is my take on the testing that I have completed here at The Tire Rack on our test track.
Maximum Performance:
These are the absolute best performing tires on the market. Great steering response and wet/dry traction (not for use inthe snow!!!) which is at home on the track.
1.)Pilot Sport PS2
2.)Eagle F1 GS-D3
3.)S-03 Pole Position
4.)Ecsta MX
5.)Pilot Sport
6.)P-Zero Nero
There is 1 glaring omission in this list. It is the BFG G-Force T/A KD. The reason for this tire not being on the list is because of its lack of versatility. It is the best performing tire in the dry but, is almost scary in the wet.
Ultra High Performance:
A step down form the Max tires but, still exceptional performance which fits most application for a street tire that can be driven very aggressivley.
1.) Firehawk SZ50 EP
2.) Potenza RE750's
3.) G-Force KDW
4.) Sport 8000
Ultra High Performance All Season:
Performance tires which are capable of going through the snow.
1.) Sport 5000
2.) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
3.) P-Zero Nero M&S
4.) AVS DB S2 (quietest tire I have ever driven)
5.) Continental Extreme Contact
6.) BFG G-Force KDWS
7.) HTR+
Budget Performance Tires:
Summer performance with a cost effective tire when your budget is a concern. (based on performance not cost)
1.) Yokohama AVS ES100
2.) Fuzion ZRi
3.) Sumitomo HTR Z II
4.) Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
5.) Sumitomo HTR Z
6.) Dunlop SP Sport FM901

those are just the ones tirerack carries, but it's a pretty good list if you are getting them from tirerack.
the tires that are not mentioned which still perform with decent cost are the Hankook k104, Nitto nt555, and if you really want something that last General Exclaim UHP.

Well I guess I need a set of rears after doing mass burnouts with the POS contis. I am debating between the ps2's which I have had in the past, the Goodyears, and the KDW's. I had the kd's in the past and loved them. The main question is this: because there is so much power to a smaller tire would it be better to get a tire that has more dry grip even if softer to hook up better and have less tire spin or have a higher (harder) compound? Those POS Contis are hard as hell and I would just light them up regularly. It was annoying and obviously was attributable to the short wear life. Sounds like I'll go ps2's for the best dry traction with decent wet performance?

I have Conti SportContact's on my C32 and they're not too bad, not sure why everybody hates them so much. ESP sure does kick in a lot due to wheelspin though. When I turn it off the rear end gets a bit loose sometimes, I just assumed this was due to the 350bhp.
Since I've only had my C32 for about 8 months, I don't have any experience with other tires on this rig, yet - I'm sure the Conti's won't last long.
I had Bstone S02's, BFG KDW's and Kumho ECSTA's on my S2000 in the past.
The S02's handled the best by far (make sure you look at S02 Pole Position, not the standard ones), the KDW's wore out after about 8,000 miles (and I didn't do a lot of burnouts, I'm not 16).
Believe it or not, the best tires on the S2000 were the Kumho's, especially for the price. I live in Chicago, so I drive in the snow sometimes. The Kumho's gave me the best traction in foul weather by far, and their dry grip seemed better than the KDW's. S02's had them beat, but man are those shoes expensive...

Being 16 is not a prerequisite to doing burnouts moron. What was the point of that comment other than being an *******? If you read my post the problem is launching. I want something that will let the car use all the power it has instead of just lighting the tires for 80 ft. I am also going up to a 255 ala the clk63, and yes they run the same rear rim size so it's fine.
You post waste useless for how you "use" your S2K.
