Coilover install

Any FAQs done for a coilover install on C32?
I have done springs and shocks on VWs, Hondas, DSMs, and a Supra before. It seems most people here take their cars to somebody to get stuff done.
Are any special tools needed? Any online guides?

Thanks!

If you have done standard suspension installs on those other vehicles, then there really wont be much of a difference. I installed my coilovers last month, and it was as straightforward as any other car. They went on without a hitch. I used my alldatadiy.com subscription for any information I needed (great value @ $14 for a year). Pm me if you have any specific questions. Good luck.

The rears are easy.. I could do it with one hand. The front is a little bit tricky IF you plan to take it back to stock someday. If that's the case, then you would want to get an extra set of spring hats for your new kit.
This is why.. in order to install the new kit, you need to use the stock spring hat from the stock struts. Undoing the stock spring hat is easy. To install it back on the stock struts (again if you plan to take it to stock) is a major PITA. That's why you'd want to leave the original spring hat intact.

Any special tools required? I know for my VW GTI I needed to rig up a special tool (gring a socket) to get the struts apart.

Thanks for the heads up. I am about to install some CO myself... sheit I thought I was in the clear buying coilovers with just straight swap installation; didn't know I still have to disassemble the OEM unit.

How much are these spring hats? Does anyone have the part # handy?

It's only a major PITA to reinstall the stock spring hats onto the OEM shocks if you don't have a spring compressor. We did the front coilovers on my car to check for clearance and then went back to stock on the same day with no issues. It should be pretty straight forward.

You might need this though. Not required but sure would make your life easier.
