Hi Chris, Upon receipt of your message, we immediately contacted our Product
Management for AMG products. We were informed that the plate about which you
inquired was installed on AMG vehicles starting in Model Year 2003. Should you
wish to discuss further, I can be reached at telephone no. xxxx

thank you for your interest in our website and in Mercedes-AMG's products.
Regarding your question we can tell you that you got one of the first C 32 AMG with the new AMG engine badge, which shows that each engine at AMG is painstakingly assembled by hand. In the beginning the plaques where unsigned which was fluently changed into signed plaques. There is no difference in the high quality of the engine. Unfortunately it is not possible to change the plaques in a later moment.
In case you have any further questions, please contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealership which should be able to provide you with additional information on AMG and Mercedes-AMG's products.
Best regards

if so, perhaps we should all send e-mails and request the name of our engine builder!
Boy, seems the reponse from MB is "tough luck, no big deal, live with it cause we don't care or know who built your engine unless it's signed" Perhaps I'm wrong, but they seem to be skirting the issue. Is there anyway to determine who built the engines on 2002 models, or 2003 models without the signature? that is the real question. It's not so much the missing plaque, it's more like "Who built my engine?" Is this the e-mail address you used to contact them?

maybe e-mailing AMG directly would be more effective. With the VIN # or the engine #, maybe you can find out who did built the engine.
