its a cultural thing.. they have been doing that for years..
the amg 63 is not a 6.3 the 55 is not a 5.5.. and the 65 is definatly not a 6.5
Regardless they make the 6.3 badges in that format and I see nothing wrong with making the 5.5 badge in that format.. good luck man and I hope it turns out good for you

I had a request that we make 3.2 badges rather than the 5.5 however I think that the 5.5 badges would be more popular as there are more cars that share the 55 designation rather than the 32....

I'm sure it would sell...
Also, I just received some V8 emblems from a seller in Taiwan I am going to put on my C55. I wonder if I emailed him the picture from this thread of the 5.5AMG if they have the means to be able to create it. Thanks for resurrecting this thread...

I am going to send one of these off to my guys in China via EMS on Friday. I will get a price and post it. I think we will need at least 10 sets to make this possible because there is a machine set-up fee. Who's in right now for the 5.5? I can also have a 3.2 made but again I will need at least 10 more to make it cost effective.
The more people we get in on this the cheaper they will be. I will see if they can make them as close if not exact to OEM specs.

We can do this in America or any other location that has a CNC...The question is...how do you want it made? It can be a low run CNC operation in a metal (Aluminum) and then polished...it can be cut out of a plastic like ABS and then cleaned up...painted or "chromed"...or you can build a set of tools and mold them like the OEM units are, and chrome them...First you have to know what you want...
How would you attach this? 3M double sided tape? If so you may want a recess designed in the back side of the part to accept the thickness of the foam. CNC would require a flip operation...but again you are only paying for programming, set up and machined materials where the recess could be designed into the back side of a molded part - but then you have to pay for the tool the operation, the machine rate and the material...
Just some thoughts...
Jake
(Will it follow the curve of the fender - or be flat on the back / bottom?)

Hm.. I might be able to do something completely flat and lasercut. Then I'll be able to image the necessary areas black over polished aluminum. Just a thought, but of course numbers and precise specifications will push this project through.
Edit:
The only fast example I have of what I can do for now is what I just accomplished with my flash bracket on my camera:
STOCK:
TEMPLATE CREATION (with polish):
AFTER:
Full color polished aluminum...probably more than what we'd want here, but hey, just throwing in my dayjob as help?

UPDATE:
I got my email back and assuming we want OEM quality these won't be cheap even if we get 10pcs ordered. It's looking about $35/emblem. That is if I send them an OEM one and they make it 2 tone just like the OEM badges are. Let me know and if we should go ahead with it.
