As for the copyright- I have no idea but we do own AMG cars so I doubt MB could be that upset. I know the Mercedes logo would be TM infringement but that hasn't stopped anyone either.
My point was this... I own a pair of Levi jeans, that doesn't give me license to produce jeans and put the Levi label on it. I was recently upset to learn that MB dealers are putting AMG badges on cars that only have aesthetic upgrades. I think this badge idea is a very cool idea and I am in for a set, just don't want anyone to get in trouble with local MB dealership.

QuickSilver- I understand your concern and I do think it is valid but I am not rebadging another MB as an AMG and justifying it because I own an AMG. I am merely adding another AMG label to an existing AMG product. It would be like you getting "LEVI'S" printed down the front of your Levi's pants. Not trying to argue I just don't want people to get the wrong idea.

I HATE MB and others bading non-AMG cars as AMG. Everytime I see an S430 AMG or a c280 AMG I want to yank those suckers off.

I think we are in violent agreement. Bottom line is sign me up for a set and if MB gives me any trouble... I'll claim ignorance. CHEERS!!

Just tell 'em it came like that when you bought it... seriously though, I doubt that anyone is going to get too upset (legal-wise) if this is a 'personal' project. Different story if someone decides to 'market' them.

Exclamation

Yes, I got a few samples yesterday and they look 99.99% oem. There was only one difference and it was the feel of the black portion. That should be corrected and they will go into production at the start of the week. They replicated the 6.3 badge with a temp cast mold and it was really identical to the oem outside just the feel of the black was different. Had I not marked the back of the oem I would not have been able to know which was which.

I'm going to have them use the 3M adhesive instead of the regular stuff so they will stick for life. Also, the chrome is electroplated so it will stand up to the test of time. Everything on these will be above or the same as OEM spec.

The 5.5 emblems are the first to be produced and the 3.2's shortly after. I'm hoping to sell some 5.5's to other 55 owners to offset some of the cost of the 3.2 mold.

FYI- The OEM emblems are crazy expensive from the dealer. I purchased 3 and my tab was a bit under $150

I can take pics of the 6.3 they sent for adjustments. They just use a temp cast mold to make it. I will snap some and upload them to show you guys.

Yup exact replica. No oval behind it... The OEM looks exactly like that. The 5.5's won't be too long. I would say 2 weeks or less if nothing major comes up.
