2002 c32 amg.. lacking power.. somtimes
i am new to the Mercedes vehicles.. I came from a 95 m3, 97 540i 6 speed, 01 m3, 97 m3.. and now the 02 c32, all in the last year. cant find what i like.. lol.
anyway. have a 02 c32 wth 56k on it.. Somtimes when i get on it, it pulls, shifts and feels as it should.
Somtimes it feels VERY sluggish, like its not getting any boost, also it likes to wind out gears when it is running this way, not shift when i left off the gas and keep the RPMS high..
Any ideas?

sounds like an IC (intercooler) pump failure. you should get it looked at. thats what it sounds like. as far as your shifting, try reseting your ECU. search the forum for how to do that using the steering wheel method. reseting it tends to decrease time between shifts, though dont completely let off the gas when you shift.

I rather do thing myself opposed to having somone else look at it..
Where is the IC pump located? Anyone know the methods of testing it? What is a good performance oriented replacement? I do plan on upgrading the H/E soon so the pump may be a good idea.
The car has 56K on it, what other things should be replaced/looked at?
Im a BMW guy, new to these MB AMG cars, but i do like them so far.
I will be ordering the service manual for the car this week, if anyone wants to sell me a copy of there manual, if they have the computer based one, let me know.
Thanks for the help.

I think the pump is under the passenger side wheel well. Just take your wheel off and the plastic wheel well and it should be rigth by the bumper. As far as replacing it guys have been using the bosh pump also used on Ford F150.
It's only $80 on e-bay. You just have convert the plugs. Do a search there should be a writeup on it.

You will learn everything you ever wanted to know about the stupid I/C pump. 56k is a pretty good run for the C32 pump. Most die between 30k and 50k.

At times, mostly after highway driving, the car has no power at all. Feels like its getting no boost. But then within 10 minutes it could be back to normal power..
Is this the symptom of the pump?

If you take your car to the tech, you will need to tell them to check the I/C pump. Usually, the computer will not throw codes that are obvious to the tech that the pump is going dead. By the way, the pump usually seems to be work off and on. That also makes it tough to diagnose.

Someone needs to make a "C32 Lacking Power?" thread and ask the mods to sticky it. We get at least one person asking this question every week.

Haha, thanks for the help. I just ordered the Mustang Cobra one off ebay, $80 you can go wrong. I will install it next week when i recieve it.
I guess a way of diagnosing it would be datalogging the IAT.. What is this Johnson pump i hear about, worth the money? I will be doing an aftermarket LET performance H/E in the future, is the mustang pump good enough for it?
