looking for a new car
If you want power and modability, paired with a more luxurious ride, then get a C32.
If you want AWD and a nicer interior, S4. You can do all you want to the B6 S4, and you're not going to break 400hp.
Ok, if you want power, get a stage 3 B5 S4. Plenty of fine specimens on the market right now, for disappointingly low prices.
Remember, you've got another 1.3L in your V8!
i like mb's my family has had the lot of them raning from c - to - to over 3 ml's so im used to them.
the c seems kind of small and to they offer amg packages in avants or wagons because audi can pull it off

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
If you want something with a true manual then get the s4. The c32 tiptronic shift is probably one of the faster tiptronics i've used before, but still not the same as a true manual.
I was looking into the b6 s4 and c32. I really liked the styling of the b6 and the v8. I went for the c32 because the c32's are more rare and was supercharged so it would be easier to get power out of.
I work in orange county so i see a lot of audi's and bmw's, not as many mercedes except when i go to newport.
just test drive both see which one you liked.

over all panel gap etc, Mercedes still wins tho. the panel gap on the audi's and the bmw's even my friend's 335i isn't that good.
The amg tranny's are built very well. There lot of people doing 350whp without having to reinforce the tranny. I think mechanically the amg engines are one of the best built quality wise, there electrics are just horrible.
There's a another thread about a guy from dubai who drove ferrari's and lambo's, but used a c32 as a daily beater. He ended up turboing the c32 to 500whp and didnt change the suspension, brakes or reinforce the tranny. He said the reason he didn't change any of it was because it was already perfect from the factory.
But i agree, in snow awd > rwd. Traction control helps, but still not as well as a awd system.
