I have noticed that when I let off the brakes and let the car roll out while in drive it lurrches or surges. Once I hit the accelerator it goes away. Any ideas of what it could be?

I was having that problem as well, but it went away by it self. The dealer told me it was bad gas. I'm thinking that it may be time to change the plugs and wires and maybe give it a slight tune up.

Mine didn't just lurch, it felt like it wanted to accelerate by it self and it seemed as it wanted to die, but it never happened again after that day.

Mine has been doing it for about a week. I will try plugs and wires next.

Reset your ECU first to see what that does - there may be some weird adaptations saved.

The car is at LET right now getting a few things done including the plugs and ECU read and reset. Hopefully when I get it back it will not happen again.

many people have this problem..

I found a way to reduce it and maybe a way to fix it.

I took apart all my plug wires, coil packs (black boxes with a top connector and 2 round plug connections) right above the wires.

I removed all my coil packs and inspected them for contact clarity.

I found 2 of my coil packs to be slightly foggy or hazy. 1 really bad and the other one just startingout. The rest were a nice copper color.

It was hard to find a way to scrape off the "rust like" crap.. but with a small flat screw driver..some steel wool and and small piece of rag.. I got some better contact.

results...

at idle.. more consistent with less hick ups. Its not rpm variation, is more like a loose contact. Its almost gone.

The lurching forward is gone.. I let go of the brakes while waiting on a light.. and the car does NOT lurch forward and feel like its going to shut down.

Next I plan to remove my spark plugs... find a small drill with a steel brush and re do the process once more.

I also plan to ensure my plugs are gapped correctly and all my contact points are clean.

my damage to my coil packs must of happend during my Magnacor wire days when they were really loose and I had a ton of CEL's.

removing everything is not hard.. but take your time.

could the lurching be related to an old fuel filter? i'm overdue for a fuel filter change (about to hit 60K miles) and the lurching/surging feeling while stopped or at slow speed seems to be coming more and more frequently
