headlight issues
I come to realize my lowbeam headlights suck and and the highbeams are amazing. when im drive at night with now beams on i can't see more then 20 feet in front of me. and there is a "V" like shape at the peak of the low beams lights range. it seems as if they are pointed down to the ground to much. Mercedes tech say they are working fine but I dont think they have seen my lights at night. I was told these light auto adjust. Its light the lights are casting a shadow making a dip in the beams range right in the middle. any in other words there is like a dark triangle that dips in to the peak of my beam making it very hard to see at night with the lowbeams. does anyone have this problem with their car?

I can't say for certain but if the c55 is similar to the c32 then maybe your height sensor's busted ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
with the self adjusting headlights on the c32 when you start the car up and the lights come on, the beam will go up then down till it settles at the correct height .... does yours do this?
I had this problem with mine after I had my H&R springs fitted, the beam no longer did it's thing on start up and just pointed downwards, this was a real PITA and made it very difficult to see on country roads or any road with no street lighting.
I was told by my local shop that the springs had caused the height sensor to go out of it's effective range ( the sensor that sits on the front sway bar) and that they had to modify the bracket/adjuster or something like that to get it working again
works fine now

when the got the car back after telling the SA about the "aim", the lights are pointed higher but no longer doing the "dance", aim up then down as before. i have a feeling the service guy just manually crank the adjuster until they were pointed high enough ahead of the road.
from what i've heard, the sensor is located at the back suspension?

There should be two sensors, one at each end, to tell the light control module what the level the car is sitting at. At least that's the way my wife's Audi is.
And on the Audi I can go into the controller module with a laptop connection and reset the zero point for the headlights, but nothing exists for MB at the retail level.

The easiest way to tell whether you have halogen or xenon lights is to look to see if you have headlight washers. Xenons have a headlight washer button next to the headlight switch and aliens on the front bumper. If you don't have both the lights are halogen, and if you do they're xenon.

Hey Mike, Yours are just the halogens. You should see how mine lite up the road at night with the Xenons! The little angled flares of the light beam are coming from the headlight bulb shield inside the headlamp. Stop by some time when I'm closing and I'll show ya.

I have the same concern as hooleyboy wrt my headlights... Almost unsafe at night. I dropped my car off today for detailing at MBSD and asked about this issue. I'll let you know what the SA says when I pick it up and I'll check to see if I have the washer as well. I assumed I have the bixs b/c it's loaded w/ everything else. I just picked it up 2 weeks ago, 2005 C55 w/ 24kmi for $28,500 and VERY impressed!
