GB: AMG Hood Badge a.ka. "Mario"

I have contacted Mario regarding a GB for the prised AMG hood badge.
A picture can be viewed here, post #6.

Terms of sale:
1. There needs to be a minimum of 15 participants
2. Procurement and distribution will be centralized. In other words, all monies and distribution must take place through one member so as not to place the burden on the manufacturer, Mario.
3. Cost is $145/badge inclusive of PayPal fees, excluding any packaging, shipping and "handling" fee for the member to process all transactions.
I am willing to pay an upcharge of $20 to whomever is willing to go through the legwork of managing the latter.
This would bring the cost per badge to $165

I will volunteer to handle this GB unless someone else elects to do so.

Please add your name to the list if you decide to participate.
All participants will be PM'd once we hit our target # of 15 buyers.
Thanks

The one in the first post is not colored the one in the second IS.
I got a set for all the badges a few months back. It included hood, trunk and all four wheel caps. Looks pretty sweet, the colored badges definatly make the car look more exotic.
I think I paid around $100 shipped

The $165 includes a front badge delivered to your door.
$145 for the badge + $20 for the GB admin to handle monies, shipping and packaging.
Delivery would soon follow after the monies have been collected for no less than 15 members and the badges have been mfd.

I got a quote from Mario in January for $159 for the badge...so assuming that the single unit price is still $159, then it would just make sense for everyone to contact him separately.

Absolutely.
Can you email him for a single badge price quote?

so how is this a group buy if there's no actual savings from buying individually?

I thought you already had this badge? Or was it the B&W version?

Call it $10 for packaging materials and shipping/insurance, and that's about $150 for the GB administrator.

Or the cost of one badge.

I think it's a fair deal for the headache of collecting funds and shipping everything out......unless the mfr. ships for free.

I bought mine 3 years ago for $140 I think. Just email Mario and get your own. Don't need to pay extra for an already overpriced item.

I still have mine installed in the car. The colors are fading and the badge is losing its lust. I was thinking in spraying it fat black but haven't decided yet.

This badge is expensive but IMO it is the best looking one out there.

i bought mine a couple years ago for $145.

fyi, my first emblem started to show wear after a year and the paint chipped off almost completely on a small portion of the badge. not sure if it got hit with road debris or perhaps the paint didn't adhere correctly to the metal on that portion. i contacted mario about this and to his credit, he instantly offered to send me a free replacement, which is excellent customer service

however, the second emblem i received from him also started to show some wear after about a year. looking closely at the emblem, there seems me to micro-cracks appearing all throughout the paint and the paint has lost some of its shine. the car is always garaged at home...so i'm not sure if it's related to sun exposure or what.

anyways, it's a beautiful product when new...but i'm worried about the long term durability of the emblem.

currently i'm replaced mario's emblem with the white star badge, which is also a high quality product for those who are interested.it's slightly cheaper and utilizes the same mount as a stock emblem

lol you guys are getting ripped off @165... I paid $89 shipped for the front (exactly the same as post #2), rear and four wheel caps, with the same symbology as pictured in the images.
Got it off ebay 2-3 months ago.

no offense, but that's not the same emblem as mario's. that ebay emblem looks like a printed design set in resin. however, for mario's emblem, the design is casted in metal and spaces filled in with paint...probably by hand

I think you are the one confused.(No offense intended) You are the one that over paid. I purchased the same emblems you have, also from ebay for $18 CAD (hood and trunk emblems) delivered by post from the Taiwanese manufacturer about 4 years ago. Still have them. Never mounted them and ordered one from Mario the next day. You definitely get what you pay for. Buy quality, cry once. Buy crap and cry, cry cry....

I have the cheap B&W Affalterbach emblem--contacted Mario and got a quote, but never got around to pulling the trigger on this one.

I tried this months back and ended up with very little interest. Seems like those who like them already have them. I ended up with the flat star badge and ebay CL grill OTD for $160 -- and I'm very happy with it!

Mario’s faded and inexorably yellowed within a year of its fitment.

The subtle DFWdude badge is weathering our coastline exposure quite well.

none taken, I'll post pics tommorow of the $25 dollar piece on my car. Looks identical to Mario's if you are more than 20 inches away.

Can someone tell me the meaning of the images contained in the emblem?
