Question Drag slip question?

Guys can someone explain how to read a drag time slip to try to distinguish if maybe something is wrong in mid or high range? I am trying to figure out why I couldn't break into the 12s. As I had read before most who have the same or similar mods are hitting 12s car feels superstrong but I feel its possibly missing something from mid on. Any suggestions or POVs?

TIA!

"I even used new drag tires Nitto's 555R"

Conditions where about 72 degrees and dry at 600' elevation. Here is a link to my best slip overall.

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...9&d=1212461725

I have about 30+slips but this is best over all...I do have better 60', 300', 1/8 et,1/8mph,1000', 1/4 et and 1/4 mph as well as worse but I think this slip shows 2 or 3 of the best marks in some category.

Looking for a new toy.
Hard to make out all the details on that slip, but it seems to me you're losing the most time in the first 1/8th mile. Your 60' and 1/8th ET both seem to be the best areas for improvement. Your car is making up good time on the big end, so if you can get your launch down to an even 2.0 sixty, you should squeak out a 12.

Now I know they're different cars with different power characteristics, but for comparison sakes, I've had some high 12 second passes at right around 108mph traps, but with 1.9x sixties and 8.3x 1/8th mile ETs (regular street radials).

So you're basically running 13.2 @ 107? It was a little hard to read the slip.

Back to your question - well... your power-producing mods are ASP pulley, tune, SL55 splitter & filters. This has trimmed your stock time (13.9 @ 102) by quite a bit - 7/10ths.

Assuming you're still looking to do it, I bet when you move to the LET 185mm pulley and updated ECU for that pulley, you'll gain a few more tenths... dropping you over a full second from your stock time - probably 12.7, 12.8, something like that. Pretty quick for a Stage I C32

loungin14's car is incredibly fast for a Stage I car - almost unbelievably so. If he adds DRs, headers, Zex, cams, and/or injectors, he's probably right at a "12 flat" car or better

I drove his car and managed to pull a 12.4 on my second try. His car is fast, much faster than mine was back at our 07 track event.

However, we did swap his 19's for my Renntech Monolites (weighing in around 23 lbs with tires) and we ended up losing a half second due to no traction. I really think the weight of the 19's helped us get the car out of the hole.

We have about 190 hours on the current tune that a few of you are running and I think that made all the difference. We flashed the car a few times at the track after making adjustments to the map and managed to run these times. I thinking proper tuning is key....removing some low end trq and adding top end HP is key for a drag car with traction issues. The car builds power perfectly and it shows. LET couldn't be happier with the performance.

Also, Brett's C32 (another shop car) has managed to run 12.6's most of the day with no side effects of heat. The tunes are a little different, but Brett's LET C32 is a little more consistent. Both cars have the same mods.

Hopefully, Jake / Brett will want to move forward with cams and long tube headers. If so, we should be able to get the cars into the 11's with no Nitrous....if I don't beat them to it first!

Victor - I think we need to get your car on the dyno and do a little testing / fine tuning. How much extra weight were you carrying that day? Did you have your subs in the back?

At the next event, let's make it a point to let Jake and myself drive your car. It runs strong and seems to like the mods. It may be something as simple as a fuel filter or plugs. When you have some time, please call me. I always have time for a friend!

The barometric pressure at the time of the run is one missing element. If the pressure was 29.6, as it is right now in Elgin Illinois, using your 13.19 @ 107.09 would be corrected to 13.124 @ 107.63. If the barometer was 29, it would be corrected to 12.998 @ 108.67. Any idea what the barometer read that day?

Honestly don't know but will try looking up past weather for Ma 17 2008 at Morocco Indiana and I got this but no mention of Barometric pressure.

I did runs at the beginning with Sub but after about 5 runs took it out as well as all unnecessary weight. You guys are more then welcomed to drive it and see if you can do better. You give me a day or call me or email/text me when its best for you to dyno tune or fine tune the ECU. I don't want to get you in any trouble at your job. As of today my children are officially on Summer vacation so I need advance warning to get a sitter for my daugther cause my son is dying to see your car again. Well I have a set of 4 new Denso IK20 plugs we can switch with if need be. I do recall Jake saying your Monolite rims helped creat too much spinning. Are you gonna have your car ready for the next drag session?

Well my Kumho Ecsta street tires were at 35 in the rear...the about 5 runs on the Nitto 555Rs DR were between 35 and 30 minimum. Now the personal best of 13.19@107.09 wasn't on the Nittos it was on the Kumhos. Whats strange is I did a 13.29@105.89 without Pulley and Tune last season on 235 all around Dunlops Sport SP but then again it was a like 10-15 degree colder that day. Overall I am happy with my car and mods but I expected to hit the 12s somehow and it didn't happen...so I feel a little dissappointed. I definitely felt the difference but maybe switching the Stock Nav to an aftermarket one along with the speakers and added a sub really might have hindered the car...not to forget to mention all the RCA cables and needed hardware that wasn't very light either.

I think you may need to take all idea from members into account. Just a thought is it maybe the track your running at. I mean that the conditions of the track might be a bit slick and what feels like normal wheel spin to you might be to much for other C32 owners that get more traction on another track or even the other lane. If this is the only track your racing at that could be the problem. I was running 13.5's and 13.4's on the left lane at my local track and I new I wasn't hooking up well to my standards in fact i almost hit the wall one time. I moved to the right lane and blasted a 13.2 on my first try and 13.3 and then an other 13.2 all at about 107-108mph. You're running 555r nitto's that are a drag tire so let me ask "are bother tires getting hot during burnouts? maybe this could be playing a roll in it. Maybe the cold tire thats not heating up during burnouts is getting power and slipping abit. IKD Im not tire or drive train expert so I may not know what im talking about. All I know is i can only heat up one tire during a burnout. but when i launch both tires spin. One hot tire one cold. It just could be a part of your problem. So with that said your car sounds like its got to much power for 12's You know what i mean though your car puts down a set amount of HP well anything after that set amount of HP it wastes abit and cant apply it well. Maybe an LSD is in your future. all i know is... I dont know if what i said made any sense to me.

are those 555r's Y rated?.. there not z rated right? Z rated tires are softer right? do you think that z rated tires could hook up better? I know those tires your running are semi drag tires but do you think a softer z rated tire would hook up a bit better? I'm only asking because i dont know.

The current pressure in Morocco Indiana is 29.5, but it appears to be raining too.

You made sense...both wheels do spin when I heat them up...last season prior to Pulley and Tune the wheels barely spin on launch but nows a totally different story but when I used my new Nittos the spin was alot more controlled but still had spin...I am planning to try Byron Dragaway soon with my RX-7(Chevy small block powered) friends(3) and see how I fair there. Maybe I'll have better luck

Well its raining here as well and its just after the Illinois/Indiana border but it was a hotter day that date. How are you able to find the Barometric rate?

I don't know if they are "Y" rated to be honest and my guess is softer equals better traction but faster wear...IDK

I would have thought they would be z rated but the website says they only come in W&Y ratings.

13.9@102 was when I tested the OEM,Greens and K&N filters on this same track...I never use OEM filters I stick to aftermarket one after another and switch every 3 months or 3k miles. The best time I did prior to Tune and Pulley is 13.25@105.89 with my Green filters. So if we count 10ths off it would only be 1/10 off my PB. I may be held back by the 40+rwtq added by the pulley and tune. Other things could have been contributors to me not being in the 12s.

I will admit seeing loungin14 doing constant 12s on same track and day and weather...saddens me. I don't want to be the fastest just in the 12s...

Honestly don't know what I really want to do I just wanted to be capable of constant 12s which I thought I was there. Honestly I prefer to fine tune what I have and hope it will eventually hit 12s. Next drag session I will have Jerry,Jake and Wayne(ChicagoX) run it to see what they do...I am thinking of converting back to OEM C32 intake to see what I do with more restricted air...

your 60' is way slow. when my car was bone stock on conti's i was pulling low 1.9 60's an with you 2.12 60' your 1/8th mile is a little slow. 107mph is a 12.9-13.0 1/4 mph. im trappin 109mph running 12.60's. drop the pressure in those nittos to around 18-20psi heat them up and launch right around 2000-2100rpm. hell if you want to on the next track day we can throw my hooisers on your car and see what it does. with a renntech pulley and k&n filters my best time was a 12.94@108 with a LET pulley and tune my best time is a 12.6000@109.

I have been printing this for years about dropping the rear pressure, and have got nothing but pressure back, espically on the W211 forum. I really don't know why people find it so hard to beleive that by dropping the rear pressure, you drop you e/t. In my stang I use to run EXACTLY that 18-20 psi, and simply bump them up for the ride home. Oh well, GOOD advice, that I hope other people here will listen to. Wait a minute, don't listen to it when I am at the track with you, I need a little bragging rights

Just kidding guys

See yeah
