Easy/cheap way to log IAT's?

I'm trying to determine whether or not my IC pump is actually kaput or not, and I'm past the usual methods of listening for it running (it always runs when I shut the car off...) and checking fuses in the back. I'm planning on replacing it eventually, don't think I have much choice in that matter, but the budget is a bit tight and without being currently employed, I'd rather *****foot around this a bit if possible to save money.

I saw CarChip in a previous thread, but I was wondering if they sold anything like this local auto stores (VatoZone, Murray's, Advance... pretty much all of 'em around here)? I suppose I could buy one, get an IAT log and then suddenly have it "stop working" and have to return it

Also, any other tips on what else to try before replacing the pump? The problem is so unbelievably hit or miss that I have a hard time believing that the pump is at the end of it's life. Just today, even, earlier on the car was pulling like a Corolla, but then not more than a few hours later, it was hauling *** just about the same as usual...

This is a great economic tool for data logging and reading codes if need be. I'm not sure if they are sold locally though as I bought one online.

http://scangauge.com/

If your location of "Windy City" is Chicago, I live in Lombard and you can stop buy to data log your IAT's if you want

I have a scangauge and it does NOT work on my MB 2003 C32. I purchased it from these guys:

http://scangauge.com/

I had checked with them about this, but they had no idea why it did not work on my C32.

It works fine on my 1997 Ford.

I am not sure if this data was locked out when they did the ECU recall flash.

Scangauge website has added a disclaimer:

""2003

WORKS ON ALL EXCEPT: Jeep Liberty with the diesel engine does not report fuel use or trip functions and some of the gauges. Unless the recall ECU software update has been completed.

Mercedes 300 series and E500 are not compatible. ""

auterra
is another option. I had the scanguage and it worked for a while then after a software update ... it stopped working.

Got the Auterra and it works very nice.

With the crappy weather that moved in for most of this week, I think I may just order the pump/connector and replace the damn thing anyways, as it's a probably a %90 chance that it's the culprit.

Race and ChicagoX, I'll PM you guys if I need help, but TYVM in the meantime!

Well, definitely looks like I won't have to borrow your data loggers for now at least

Just took a little 7 mile trip after installing the Green filters yesterday. Once the car warmed up a bit and I got onto a main road w/o much traffic, I nailed it with the ESP off and wow! Seriously pulled harder than it has ever pulled before, even in 20f-30f weather, multiple times. I even launched it properly from a stoplight, on flat, mostly dry pavement, and I spun through first and part of second. Just over five seconds flat, as best as I could count, to 60.

After idling through the drop-off lane at the post office though, with the engine fully warmed up (85-90c on the dash display), it was back to the power dramatically dropping off at the top of first and through most of second. If that's not a sign of the IC pump dying, you can slap me on the *** and call me a red-headed baboon...

live data
setup the live data in either a 2 field or 4 field ... it shows the IATs in relative real time ... in seconds.

I just ordered this data logging software called PCM Scan http://www.palmerperformance.com/pro...scan/index.php
it seems pretty cool as well as usefull. I paid $185 for the program and USB to OBDII adapter. Used a discount code I found through google,"mp3car". I am eager to try the dyno and 1/4 mile features eventhough that's not why I bought it.
