331whp 351wtq and a whopping 13.6 yes it still is a 100 degrees here in AZ at race time. I was neck and neck with a 02ish old body style ZO6 until 80 when he started pulling on me. the ZO6 ran a 13.2 at 109mph. Man I need something for more power. stock i ran 13.2 at 108mph in 60 degree temps and that was way before i did any mods. Maybe i need a pep talk. I think my airfilter is dirty and i think its time for an oil change too but is that really killing me in the 1/4 mile? IDK

OK here is a pep talk. It will cool down, in December and January when all the rest of the country is butt deep in snow, the track conditions will be a lot better. I used to drag race in AZ a lot, it is always hard to run good numbers, if you go to one of sites that will show adjusted figures for weather conditions at the track I am sure you would find the times were not that bad.
I'm sure that Z06 owner felt the same way.

Out Of Control!!
yeah, 100 degrees, 2000ft elevation and 91octane gas (unless you filled up with race gas).

I used to have an '01 C5 Z06. I can tell you that your car was not to blame. Those cars do not trap at 109. It normally runs high 12's at 112-114 bone stock. The '02-'04's run even quicker. I would say the heat was to blame, and possibly track prep as well.Originally Posted by hooleyboy

What is your exact launch technique?
Just the fact you were so close to the Z06 means that it was the weather...
People seem to forget the old C5 Z06 was/is quite a monster.

I know of two guys with C32's with MODS that raced on a cold winter night in south florida. low 60's no humidity and they had similar (disapopinting)results at the Track as the OP. Well see what happens when winter comes.

oh yeah it's the winter that your gonna love! My car is another monster in the winter. Although it is S/C even a N/A V8 will benefit from the cold dense air too. Just wait a few more months, thats when you'll really start to enjoy what you've done with your car, and likely need new tires again for the summer
