WTB....Valentine One
I bought the remote display option and never used or installed it.
So if you get a V1 and need a remote - PM me.

I've been on every radar /laser forum for about 15 years now and while I love the V-1 and its a great unit for sure, the technology is getting dated with the use of red light cams and speed cams. The 9500 iX is on-line upgradeable as well and I've upgraded it twice for the cameras and yes, it works!! There are simply too many cars out there for the coppers to get, BUT the cameras are everywhere and they can get you 24/7.

Don't get me started on road pricing based on GPS technology and time of day.....
All coming to the US soon - just another form of stealth taxation :-(

In Chicago, they are putting up an alleged 100 new cameras a month (1200 a year) and already have about 10,000 of them installed or on the books. I'd prefer to have the 9500iX simply for the fact that it tells me where they are!! Its all about the revenue. Plus, they've made the plate covers illegal, so that hurts too.
Hey Vic, don't ya just hate it when you get shot in the butt by a laser
Other than that, you're toast!!

I'd say laser is now the primary concern. I use a LPP. There are months when I never get lidared, but there are also days when I get lidared 3 or 4 times. It seems like with higher gas prices, there are less ISP driving on the highways, and more parked and pointing lidar guns.
Get a LPP or LI -- NOTHING else. The radar detector doesn't come into play here. I don't care about detecting laser, I only care about jamming it.
The secondary concern is still classic radar. I've been following radar detectors for over ten years, and there is still no detector that can compete with the V1. There are now several detectors that have excellent detection, but V1 is the only one that combines excellent detection with direction. I can not stress how important detection is. I need to know if that Ka blip is something way behind me (so something I don't care about), or a faint Ka blip from an ISP in the highway U-turn lane 3/4 of a mile ahead. I also need to know when that strong K signal is ahead or behind of me, because there are so many traffic signs that now output K. When I see the arrows point ahead, then behind, I know I passed the object (even though the strength of the signal is still very high). If there's another strong K signal just ahead, it could be ISP taking speed in the slow zone. Without direction, I would assume it was still the traffic sign. It's also important with actual ISP. When there's a mid strength Ka, it's a cop. Any of the good detectors will show you that. Sometimes you can't see the other direction of traffic flow. Don't forget that about HALF the time the cop is on the OTHER side of the highway and not going to radar you. When I see the Ka signal ahead of me, then behind me without ever seeing the ISP in my traffic direction, I know the cop was on the other side, and that I can speed up again even though the detector is still yelling Ka. I wish the V1 would get updated. I'd replace it in a heartbeat if something better came out. Nothing has.
Traffic cams are popping up EVERYWHERE in Chicago. Although all the intersections are marked with signs, that's not enough. Some kind of GPS database is needed. I store them in my database in my AVIC-Z3 navigation. The icon shows up on intersections that have redlight cams, and my navi tells me to "Watch out!" when I am approaching one. The 9500xi is probably more convenient when it comes to this.
Getting a V1 is not enough. You need to know how to use it properly, and also need lidar/laser protection. If you drive in an area with a lot of speed cams, you'll need some kind of GPS database too.

If I were buying a jammer for the first time though, I'd go straight for the LI.

I don't get caught alot but the few last time I bet the V1 would of helped me....thank God I have a friend cop helping me with the last most recent ticket
Last time I looked I thought it was about a grand for the jammers. Ya it is expensive but with 2 tickects at 350 a piece and insurance going up it seems cheap to me now.
Let em know how you make out.
i used one of this cobra radar detector when i was driving to MD, and it did not work at all
,some times it makes noises but i don't see any cops or anything
i passed State Police with 90 mph(i was lucky
and this radar worked only ONE time and that's it and i have tried my friend's Cobra(different model) and it just didn't work
, i really don't trust this radar detectors .Is all the Radar Detecors like that????if i get one of this Valentine one will it work??? like if i'm in highway and i'm speeding , will it tell me if there's gonna ba radar?
