Ticking sound when on throttle..help?
does anyone know what might be up with it?
BTW. no CEL. so im clueless on where to start looking.

thank you!
its its a very very soft ticking noise it could just be your injectors. my roommate was freaking out about another ticking noise from his engine bay and after close inspection......ta da. the injectors click when they fire... what a coincidence lol. you would be hearing a soft ticking that would increase with rpms ( you would only be able to hear this under no load and low reving rpms as the ticking is fairly soft) and the most noticeable ticking would be if you put your head next to the driver side windshield wiper... its fairly audible there.
if none of these help you, pm me some more symptoms. it would really help the diagnosis
anymore clues?
thanks!

I had this exact problem last year
If it is this then you will only notice the ticking noise whilst on the move and it will increase and decrease in speed with the speed of the car and not engine speed/rpm,also in my case it only ever happened after the car had warmed up
when it happened to me I could hear the ticking better when I lifted the arm rest cover, which made me sure it was coming from the gearbox/driveshaft area ( on my first attempt at getting it fixed the dealer tried to tell me it was one of my stepper motors gone bad
)there are 2 things that can cause this.
Firstly if the heat shield is not positioned around the driveshaft correctly, then the exhaust heats up which will expand the heat shield and can cause it to rub on the driveshaft,
secondly there is some sound deadening material surrounding the gearbox which has some weights or something attached to it which can work loose and give the same result
I thought mine was related to the heat shield due to only happening when the car warmed up but it turned out to be the sound deadening thing
HTH
btw, this was very easy to fix once they found it and they didn't even charge me as I was having some other work carried out at the same time
