So, when a battery quits, it really does not fool around.

My car sat in the garage for 24 hours and when I went to start it up today-- NOTHING.

So dead that the interior lights would not turn on.

So dead that the ignition key was not recognized.

So dead that I could not open the trunk.

I had to hook up a battery charger so that I could get into my trunk to transfer stuff to my trusty 21 year old back up car!

How does a battery go from functional to zippy that fast?

seat controls of coarse!

You probably lost a seat controller and it is draining the battery....

common problem im sure ur aware of....

A bad cell in the battery will do that also.

I thought about that. Any symptoms (e.g. seat don't work).

You’ll get that sometimes.

Had one fail (on another car) while it was shut off for refueling. DEAD.

The friendly attendant emerged from his bulletproof cubicle and admonished me to “move your car!”

none on mine...seats all worked fine. Star diag found the problem.

Disconnect both of them and see if the car holds a charge. Then go through one by one to see if you can isolate the prob.

I've had that happen twice. First time was the seat module, which was replaced. Second time was due to the battery being toast. Start with a new battery.

It happened to me 3 times within 6 months. Lucky, the car still under warranty so dealer replaced new battery. I don't know what caused mine to fail.

This is from the last battery drain thread. If you have COMMAND, this may help you.

Normally, once you shut off the car and pull out the key, the fan behind the navigation stays on for about 3-5 minutes(I think) and then shuts off automatically. When your seat control module is bad, it stays on all the time, thus draining your battery. Stay in the car, and turn it off and you can hear it running.

Trouble shooting:
Maybe try disconnecting one side(I think I have read that the passenger side goes bad most often) and then take out the key. Listen closely for the fan behind the Command screen. Wait 5 or so minutes and it should shut down. If it does, try disconnecting the other side.

Side note: Depending on how long you have this problem, it may also put extra strain on your alternator thus causing it to fail prematurely as well. Best to take care of it ASAP.
