SB, I'm trying to find a wheel setup where I can run a MT ET Street Radial in a 275/40/17 on my E55 because the widest size that they have in a 18" is a 265/40/18 that will fit my car and I need all the rubber I can get to launch this thing fairly hard!

There are plenty of 18" and 19" rims with a 9" or even 10" wide rim which would be fine for a 275. I don't know how much space the E has for wide tires. I know the C would definitely need cut or rolled fenders to fit w/o rubbing though. 275 is an odd size so I'm not sure what size tire even comes available in a 275.

If you are ONLY interested in DR, you can mount a 275 on a 8.5" rim. I know, I have done it on my stang with a set of ROH's. You are correct that it would roll over WAY too much for road racing, or even street use. However, straight line DR, it would NOT be a problem. Again, I know this from ACTUAL use at Keystone dragway my friend.

Just DON'T go below 20 psi and you will be fine. Anything lower and you are risking the tire coming off the bead of the rim. I ran right around 22psi for my Drag radials with a 17 x 8.5 ROH as stated above for a few years without any issues. Have fun and let us know your results my friend.
