Resonator delete, muffler help

Hey guys,

FINALLY got my resonator deleted today. I love the sound. I can't believe it took me this long to get this part removed. Now, I am a bit addicted to the new sound and am hungry for more. So, I am going to get the secondaries removed soon to get a slightly meaner sound.

After much searching through this forum and listening to several exhaust clips, I am not convinced on a muffler. I have listened to clips of the eisenmann race (out of my price range) and magnaflow (which apparently is really loud and rattles plastic pieces in the car). I am not entirely sure what muffler to go with.

I want it to be louder than it currently . Not obnoxious. Not ricey. And minimal to no drone.

My exhaust guy recommended a borla muffler. Anyone here try that out on the C32?

Any other recommendations or sound clips that I missed?

Would a C32 with deleted secondaries, resonator, AND an different muffler sound ok? Anyone running that setup?

And what are the specs of the muffler if i want to go
universal?

thanks

Magnaflow = DROOOOOONNNNNNE! I test drove a c32 with a magnaflow muffler with the twin tips, and was that ever annoying I had a headache just from a two minute test drive, lol. Borla makes great sounding exhaust products that actually enhances the rumbling tone of an exhaust with a clean and clear tone, unlike Magnaflow which just makes for a louder muffled drone sound. Unless the AMG muffler is damaged on your car, I say keep it! anything more than res/secondaries delete will be too loud and annoying.

you will BARELY notice any sound difference from removing the secondarys. borla is a great company, but any straight threw muffler will sound generally the same.

Pretty sure that over the years with all of the different choices, most everyone stuck with the AMG muffler or went to the Eisenmann for looks. A couple did the C55 exhaust swap but you have to remove your spare tire tub and it could be rather expensive.

so would a secondary cats delete AND a muffler (like borla) be overkill?

just secondary cats delete or just muffler?

what size muffler do I need for fitment?

it sounds great on the C55! it is louder on my car too! there is no drone, but when you get on it, there is definitely more growl and more sound. search the forum for many great sounding exhaust clips for the C55 with the resonator delete.

the stainless steel pipe cost me about $25 and labor/welding cost me $50. So it came out to about $75 which i am perfectly fine with.

yah we'll have a listen. i will wait to do my secondaries and/or muffler until after the meet.

no i was not out in scottsdale last night. and i wish i could say mine was "nice" but i had an ex curb rash three of my four rims quite badly (which i havent fixed but will do so over winterbreak) and had someone break into my car to steal a radar detector (so i have a bunch of dinks above my driverside door). im down in tucson for school right now and will be driving up saturday morning with some srt members down here.

what time are you gonna get to the track by on saturday?

I will be there at like 8AM to help Evan (cruzinquick) set up some stuff, We got a little BBQ after the trophy races If you get there by 9AM you will be good. I'm going to put together some directions for the people coming from the East side. I found a much faster way to get out to the track buy taking the 303 all the way to the 60. it knocks of about 15 mins of drive time with way less lights. dont forget to bring a helmet the is DOT and SNELL approved. Look for the Black on black C55 with to many badges on the back. I should have a Video camera on hand too.

For the C32, there is no drone at 70+mph with just the res delete. I did a 1200 mile trip (round trip) after doing mine and it was fine. You won't be sorry.

I get a drone at 80mph with mine, but I don't hear it as much with music on. Really only bothers me when I'm thinking about it haha.

ok. i've been searching the web for a muffler. i'm guessing i don't want a straight through or bullet (sp?) muffler. i've gathered that the inlet for our mufflers is 2.75'.

I'm thinking borla but am not sure if the XR-1 sportsman muffler has enough baffles. I want less baffles in the exhaust than i currently have (for more noise/better flow) but i don't want it straight through because it will be way too loud. any ideas or advice?
