CRAP

I have an 05 C55 with 26k miles. In the wet weather understeered into a curb going about maybe 10 mph. It took out a chunk of my right 19" wheel (amazingly its still holding air thus far) and now my steering wheel is cocked to the left real bad and it pulls to the right hard. Any guesses on whats wrong and what needs to be fixed?

sounds like you need a re-alignment.

your rim probably needs to be fixed too. at some point.

Well, I fear its much more than a realignment because the steering wheel needs to be held way to the left in order for it to drive straight. Its a really big chunk out of the wheel thats missing so I don't think there's anyway to fix it so I'll just start looking for a replacement wheel.

Happened to me a while ago...after many failed attempts by dealer and an independent wheel and tire place...still having the same problem

First thing on my list of things to do this summer is to resolve this issue.

I know I must be blind, but is that your damaged wheel? Looks fine to me--don't see a big chunk missing. Also you're lucky that you've got Bremmas and not HREs or something like that.

WAY OT, but I was a DU (Justice, Our Foundation )--what's the "Expect Nothing" about?

a quarter mile at a time
start with an alignment, they'll most likely be able to tell you if something else is wrong or bent.

i have the same rims... i would def put in an order for a new rim - also, i don't know how much tread you have left, but a bent rent will likely mess up the tread on the tire by causing uneven wear on it.

is the tire alright? i'm surprised it didn't tear or have the sealing between the rim/tire come loose and seep air out.

i'd get that into a benz tech sooner rather than later... best of luck though!

The wheel amazingly still holds air. I was posting the picture to show the original wheels because I was unsure of the brand. I'm taking it up to the stealership to have my tech friend take a look at it and then probably taking it to an alignment specialist down the road...but im sure I bent some pieces and now it says my ESP is malfunctioning Definitely kicking my *** over this one.

yeah man, they're TSW Bremmas. http://www.tsw.com/productline_classic.php 3rd one on the right

i'd put up a post to see if any members have a set they wanna get rid of. but brand new they're not terribly expensive (<$200), but according to their website they're discontinued. i'd recommend shopping around online, and doing so soon - it's gonna need a replacement.

regarding the ESP, you'd have to talk to a tech or someone that's had that problem... sorry buddy

best of luck to u!

*edit*found them on discount tire online and had one sent to the shop close to my house for $215...time to take it to the alignment shop now

Just wanna say my mod list is almost exactly like yours (bought it that way...I believe i'm the 3rd owner), except the HID fogs aren't installed. I was going to put 4k (currently have 6k) lights back in and install the HID fogs this weekend but I guess its going to be in the shop

then i really like your style, brotha!

you gotta buy a new tire too? if the tread is down, maybe buy a pair so they wear evenly.

where u based by the way? if anyone's in MD/DC area, i know a guy that does great wheel/tire work

Wow, that is the same exact problem I have with my 02 c32. I dont know what it is, but it pulls like crazy to the left. I tried alignment, but they told me that one of the tires has more thread than the other, so it will still pull to the left(and it still does after the alignment). I bought new front tires today and I am getting them installed on Monday. After the tire instalation, I am taking the car to an MB dealer to try to get it fixed under extended warranty. I really dont think it is an alignment issue, because it did not work for me. I think that something is wrong in the front suspension and maybe steering. Anyways, good luck fixing your problem and keep us posted.

Doesn't seem like it needs a replacement, but your suspension might of gotten messed up. I hit a curb at 80mph or so a while ago, it ripped both tires and ripped the lip of the front tire. Had to replace a few suspension pieces and take some crap from my dad

I'm out of washington state. I didn't need to buy a new tire but I had it checked out this weekend and my lower control arm is bent. Ordered the wheel, the lower control arm + bushings and hopefully will get it all installed and aligned next week.

35 as well too, because roads in seattle aren't any better.

We swapped out the lower control arm which was way bent but couldn't do the thrust arm (which might be bent as well) because we couldn't get the HID leveler off for some reason...so tomorrow I might just take it into a mercedes dealer and get raped for the labor, but the steering is correct now and nothing rubs...hopefully my wheel will be in either today or tomorrow so I can get off my getto spare

Better the lower control arm than the frame.

Random question... but don't you have collision coverage on your car? Or was the total cost of the repairs not significantly higher than your deductable?
