kill story: C32 vs S4 left me a bit jealous...

Was heading towards jackson to go play at the casino the other night, it was about 1am as i crossed the bay bridge when i saw a late model yamaha R1 fly by me and an idiot in an B5 S4 trying to catch up to it.

Needless to say the idiot in the audi gave up. But it was late and my lil C needed to stretch its legs so i decided to race the audi. We would go from about 60mph and i hit about 140mph, we did 4 runs and every run id be a car length ahead. Maybe his turbos took to long to spool up?

We were both headed in the same direction and as we hit the tunnels (before pittsburg, SF bay area guys should know what im talking about but i forget the name of the tunnels) where they curve and i didnt want to hit the curves at speed and thats when the audi blew past me. And as he opened up the throttle his insane exhaust just screamed in the tunnels! Made me a bit jealous! I want my C32 to sound like a race car!

After that i called it quits but that exhaust note just haunts me!

I found a video on youtube of what his car sounded like but the video doesnt do it justice.

In person and in that tunnel it was just an amazing sound....

B5 S4 that makes sounds are people that are showing off. probably not much mods.

stock S4 are slow unless you tune it or really mod it.

This is what a really modded B5 S4 can do to a C32 with only chip and pulley on 19's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKoSQHrtBfY

you can sound somewhat like a race car with headers and the right exhaust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1A73...e=channel_page

Well his license plate frame gave me a clue, it read ACHTUNING.

But my guess is if i beat him with my relatively lightly modded C32 im sure he hasnt had to many upgrades.

imagine a stock looking S4 Avant/wagon with only 17" wheels and quiet as stock flat out pull buses on you at 110mph and still pulling away.

The C5 RS6's from Gran Turismo have been long discontinued. They only imported around 1200 into the US (not sure about wagons). You can find some on autotrader in the mid20's-low30's, depending on mileage.

Quattro needs to come back with those turboed monsters.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
The owners of ECS Tuning near Akron used to have a B5 S4 that had around 400hp. Those things can be monsters and they handle incredibly well.

Nope, they collapsed and fouled out the secondary so i had all 4 removed. But the resonator is in place, it sounds pretty bad though. Sounds raspy at low rpms but sounds pretty muscly at higher revs.

Im still trying to find some carb legal high flow cats to put back in the location of the primary's. But there arent any carb legal metal substrate only ceramic cats and im afraid of the ceramic collapsing from the heat.
