Feeler/WTB: SL 55 intake setup

Looking to pick up an SL 55 intake setup from one of you fine enthusiasts. Anyone have one they're selling out? I know I missed out on a couple good deals, but no harm in trying again, right?

Should've also mentioned, I'm looking for a Code 3 pulley or an ASP/Evosport kit as well. 2nd gen highly preferred. Don't want to be shredding belts. I was considering a 185, but I think I would need to seriously upgrade my cooling before I get that brash.

What's the going rate for an SL55 intake these days?

I upgraded to a carbon fiber intake a few years back but have been hanging on to the original in case I ever wanted to return the car to stock.

Well, if I knew, I would've put out an asking price. :P Trying to keep it at $250 or less, personally speaking. $200 would be great.

That includes the air boxes, tubes and the y splitter, right?

LET C32 2002
I bought a full SL55 setup modded to fit the C32 for $200 and have to say very good mod...the restriction in air is non-apparant compared to C32 setup when you drive it after install. As for the 185mm all you need imho is a bigger heat exchanger and you are good. Some enthusiast take it deeper but honestly you are good with a bigger heat exchanger but if you live in very hot climate then buy the phelonic spacers as well...Daily driving with bigger heat exchanger in soft and hard driving I havent seen any heatsoak.

I'm in California, so it shouldn't be too bad. Also, I did get phenolic spacers. ^^

Huh...I thought a lot of people do it since it was better overall. More people do the Code 3 intake I guess...?

i think more people do the code3 because it is an easier option....it doesn't require any modification (to the boxes, and for some the hoses) like the SL setup does. it is also cheaper than the SL setup.

Koru - just go with the C3P intake. There isn't much benefit from the 55 intake for you unless you go to the next stage with pulleys and headers...

have you tried the 55 setup? IMO, I think it is more powerful than the C3P after having tried both.

I think the biggest problem is that I have yet to see a before and after dyno with the 55 intake. So it is hard to compare this intake setup with others like the LET or the Code3 that have dynos showing gains.

Maybe the ultimate setup that would fit on the car would be the 55 hoses and 55 boxes with the stock splitter with the code3 on it? i think Newschpsy (spelling?) has some variation of this setup.

Yes, I had it for a couple of years. It's a great mod but you need to combine it with the others. More air in and more air out as much as possible.

I went with the C3P b/c I wanted to go back to the factory look, nothing else.

Now Victor is hopefully enjoying my setup. The snorkels and the tabs have been modified to fit the C32 as good as OEM which is the biggest headache with this mod.

yah, im still trying to figure out a way to get the 55 splitter to produce the c3p noise, which is why i may test out a code3intake on the stock splitter with the 55boxes and hoses vs the full 55

tabs are definitely annoying, though i was able to make the snorkels fit without modification with some "gentle persuasion" lol

I think the SL55 setup is definitely a bigger benefit, but mostly if you have mods already, such as a crank pulley or Code3 Pulley. If not, I think the gains are going to be just as minimal as a Code3 intake, yet the Code3 is much cheaper and easier to install.

Talking

Newzchpsy is using an LET intake tubes and filters with C3P "Y" Splitter. With the 185mm I felt this intake right away Going to get another Dyno Tune by Jerry in March sometime prior to Drag season. I'll have Dyno sheet then. I really think with my mods the SL55 setup is very beneficial for me...I really can't compare it to LET intake or C3P intake but Bret "Mustang281" has 360 WHP with 185mm, Jerry Tune and LET intake...so I'm hoping for that much.

Well, the intention is to combo a pulley of some kind with the SL 55 intake. I thought people were having problems with oil seeping into the Code 3 intake. Or was I just wrong about that?

The graph of the dyno also concerned me a little with the code 3 intake/pulley combo. You've seen it. It seems to make less power at low end, then tears off at the high end. Belt slip, maybe? Bad run?
