Battery/Alternator error

Okay, so I was trying to cable start my other car with the C32 and it didn't work. I drove somewhere in the C32 and then came back home. Then a few hours later I had to go to class so I get in the C32 and the ***** loses all engine power 300yds down the road.

your alternator is dead if you got that error. The stock battery will only last 45min-1hr with no alternator. You can take your battery out and get it recharged at autozone for free and you can ddrive back home or to a shop. Remember to disconnect the battery when you get home.

This is just in case your asking...i cant take tell if your asking a question or making a statement.

yeah i found out the hard way about 2months ago. I was driving back from a canyon cruise and as I was driving on the freeway...one part of my electrical system started going out one by one...head lights, cluster lights, bas, abs, then the car went into limp mode and i had to park and get the battery recharged.

First time it ever happened to me in any car, i was scared shi*less.

I had to replace my alternator last year cause the seat module kept draining my battery and over taxing the alternator, thus causing premature failure.

i haven't had any seat module issues for over a yr now because of my relay fix. I'm just convinced that valeo is crap like there defective radiators and bosch stuff.

my voltage regulator went out last month, my car only has 30k on it, so judging by all the posts by other people, the mileage really ranges from car to car, by the way, it also seems more like the voltage regulator is at fault more than the alternator itself

My alternator needed to be replaced a few months ago with ~50k on the car, I asked the mechanic specifically to ensure that it was the alternator instead of the voltage regulator, and he told me that the bearing in the alternator felt bad.

I will never know if he was telling the truth, but I tend to think that he was because it was always my intention to order the part myself and have him put it in, and I don't think the difference in labor between replacing the alternator and voltage regulator would have been significant.

the labor would not have been significant, as the alternator would still have to be removed, but a 60 dollar part is way better than a 350 dollar part

so your saying you were able to replace the voltage regulator? everyone else said in the other thread that the voltage regulator was not replaceable.

Not sure if a C55 Alternator will work on a C32. I don't know if I would wanna take the risk either and then having to have it replaced again.

Just get a new Valeo alternator, got mine from http://www.alleuropeanautoparts.com/

If your ordering it from here and you're doing it yourself remember to put your old pulley on the new alternator (I realized it after I already had the alternator installed and was putting the belt on)

Do a search on the forum, there is an excellent DIY writeup on this.
