C32 vs RSX???

This was an interesting post I found on another site..

RSX vs C32???

Just found it interesting. I think either it wasn't a C32 or the guy driving the C32 wasn't trying.

Yeah sounds like a personal story of mine. A few months ago I'm driving home on Monterey road in San Jose,. This road is pretty is like a expressway with lights every quarter mile or so. This Jetta with about 5 highschoolers pulls up next to me. Its about 12:30am and I'm tired minding minding my own business, just wanting to get home when all of a sudden the kid in the Jetta rolls his window down and asks me if I wanna race.

So I say whatever, ok, I need to empty the gas tank out anyways. I even offer to give him a five second lead. Well he didn't want it and I killed him. Off the line and beat him by like a 15 car lenghts. So I slow down before the next light to ask him if he wants to race again. But he flies by me like a bat out of hell and then flashes his hazards like he won. So guess what I slam it and fly by him, down shift and pull a U turn, as to say to the youngsters, "your wasting my time and gas, so I'm gonna burn you, turn around and go home".

So I guess the kids might have gone back that night and bragged to their buddies, that they beat this C32 tonight. If you want to call that a win so be it....You young kids should learn the rules of racing if your gonna do it right. It's light to light....

I think, actually the race is between a mod Subaru and a C32. Those subarus can be very quick with simple mods.

Reading the sub more closely, it was a modded Subaru. In his signature it says WRX Stage 2. Wonder how fast those are. A stock WRX gets 0-60 under 6s correct? A modded WRX should keep up with our cars pretty well.

I dont know about that. I raced a wrx on the freeway. He said he had intake, chip, and exhaust. I beat by about 8-9 cars. Those cars are a joke on the freeway. Yea off the line im sure a chipped wrx is quick but i have a sneaking suspicion that a chipped c32 would eat it alive after the 60ft.

On my way to Louisiana last weekend I raced a WRX from 70 mph to ~145 mph, the SOB was stuck to my tail the first time and to my side the second time all the way to about 135 mph!!!!

Easy cars to mod, not too expensive to mod either. I'd be afraid of racing the same blue WRX I raced from a dead stop, simply because the AWD.

So it can happen, not every day but it can happen.

Sad to see that our 60k vehicles can't beat a modded 30k vehicle. At least we ride in style right? No big exhaust or huge wings on our C32.

There is one really trick WRX that I've seen on the freeway. It actually held pretty well against Brad and I in a Maranello. The car looked sick (for a WRX)!

Talking

I drive a RT Spec WRX Wagon (Cobb Tuning) that makes 285 whp, and my wife drives the C32 (not dynoed as of yet).

We raced from 40-125MPH. The C32 pulled one car length towards the last half of the run.

This was about what I expected:
Power-weight ratio -- slight advantage in favor of my WRX
Cd and frontal area -- gross advantage in favor of C32

Treasure those silent moments that you spend slicing through the air with your slippery 0.26 Cd. With a Cd of 0.38, you don't slice the air so much as you pummel it.

Anyone ever encounter a Z06?

From a stop, my WRX can fend off a recent model Z06 until 100MPH (wife driving the Z06).

I've wondered how the C32 would fare against a Z06, but the Z06 had to go to make the room for the C32

NICE!...but if you let go of the Zo6 for the performance of the C32 u made the wrong choice. other than the performance compare to the Zo6 the C32 is a great change.

btw, is that 285 at the wheel? for the WRX...SWEET...and it's a wagon too

We dumped the Z06, because the C32 was a great tradeoff between performance and luxury. Obviously, you don't get much luxury in the Z06 (but you do get lots of shiny plastic).

Yeah, the 285 is at the wheels (Mustang all wheel drive dyno).

In theory, this amount of power should be good for a 12.7-ish quarter mile @ ~106MPH, but that is with a 1.7-second 60-ft time.

Yeah, driving a fast wagon is pretty funny. With a cargo carrier on top of the car, I once trounced a 330ci for giggles

I raced a zo6. the 405 hp one. The guy i raced didnt really know how to drive so he didnt beat me all that bad since he sat burning rubber for awhile. Im sure with a pro driver it would be murder.

That's the reason I would choose a C32 over any of those american muscle cars.. The ride on the C32 is better, and quieter.. And seats four comfortably.

Sorry guys I couldn't take anymore of this BS from these guys and offered to chanllenge him if he ever wanted to race. BTW, if I do race, I will kill him.... as I am getting a Renntech pulley, and ECU upgrade soon. So i will make sure he has no chance even if his thing is mod beyond belief. Here's my reply to him btw:

Haha.. now they're saying that the C32 was out since year 2000. Probably raced a C320 with the zero fallen off..
