Shine: We have not done any settings changes. After about 100 miles DME readjusts A/F to compensate for more boost.

Thanks guys !
Would Evosport advice stage-2 setting could be better protection on lean ?
I'm not addressing on performance gains.
If the side effect is poor mpg, well,it's a dependent issue.

Shine,

There is no need to worry about running lean with our ODPS. As you can see from Vadim's dyno's, the DME perfectly adapts, and does not run lean.

How's the need for step colder plug (NGK5) ?
it shows the best curve (Red),though the green curve got best spikes.

Shine: We have tried going with NGK5 plug, but it wears out very quickly. In about 8K they start to misfire, so we are back to stock Iridiums with 0.035'' gap vs. stock 0.039''.

Do all these notes cover in the written instruction ?
All adjustment & check required after hardware installation.

Thanks.

Yes, the instructions will cover a complete install and should be ready next week. I have a couple of schematics to complete.

if you go in for service b, will mb replace the plugs w/ the stock plugs? what if that happens? will there be any negative effect if they replace it w/ the .039 plug?

No, we gaped stock plugs down as an extra insurance against possible misfires in case of getting some bad gas.

But it is not a situation where it misfires at 39 gap and is OK at 35.

Actually neither. On C32 air enters into the air box from the side. Stock paper element when sitting inside the box is blocks about 1/3 of that side opening. However, being made out of paper, ther e is still some flow going through that blocked part. I will post some pixs that will explain it better.

When we tested ITG and K&N filters they both lost power. The reason is the edges of the filters are soild. So when they are placed inside the box, they end up reducing cross section of the side opening and limiting the flow. ITG lost as much as 14HP due to this.

We are working with a local company that can make gauze filters, similar to K&N and others, that will not have a solid edge, thus flowing more air. When combined with better rear splitter design, there is about 3-5HP on a stock car.

Interesting

I recently put some K&N's (the model number for the C32 that was only recently introduced) in my car but haven't even had a chance to drive the car since the installation so I do understand what you saying about the air coming into the air filter box from the side. I know what you are saying about the stock paper element hanging down below the filter frame as well.

What I don't understand is the issue about the filter frame as they are solid rubber on the stock and K&N but, if I recall correctly, they both sit on top of the air filter box rim. The K&N also doesn't have any filter hanging below the frame like the stock one does so the filtering element wouldn't be blocking the side inlet.

I'll look at this issue more closely next time I clean the filters. Maybe there is some trimming of the bottom of the filter frame could address the issue. By the way, the stock filters definitely don't look like they are designed to flow a lot of air!

air filters

This info is most interesting. I hope someone can Clear the Air.
(no pun intended). I have the same concern about air flow and power.

air and power

You are right. The problem is living in the same city as Cannon and his E55k. Every corner I turn, every time I go to the Track, every woman I meet: HE'S BACK!!! I'm thinking of letting the air out of all his tires

Interesting, because I got totally different results than you with the ITG filters. I tested on a stock SLK 32 though (not pulley'd motor). This was tested on the same day, within minutes of each other. 5 runs were made with 60 second breaks between for stock config and ITG filter config. The highest peak HP run was used for both stock and the ITG filters (3rd for stock, 5th for ITG if I remember right).

Here's the excel sheet with the 2 dyno runs, as well as HP and TQ change between the 2.

oh wow~ that looks like GOOD results by changing the air filter. ITG filters... if they can add 8HP and 7lbs of torque... i am game!
