The knobs are pretty specific. Search ebay for W203 knobs. The auto's won't fit the manuals and vice versa.

The C32 has a unique mounting set-up. It will restrict your selection.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help. I have been waiting for a Brabus one to pop up, no such luck yet.

you need to make sure that your boot will be long enough to fit....several knobs that i bought had this problem.

This is an example of the brand I purchased:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Schat...lenotsupported

The W209 knob should work in the W203 too.

Mine is a carbon fiber and chrome mix that I love. Search the forum for "schatz" and you should see some nice pics of what others have done.

Same here. I can grab pics if you want - the boot is just a TINY bit too short, but it looks fine for the most part, and looks stock when the boot is crumpled up a bit and shorter. The knob itself is great. Hefty, solid, looks insanely good and doesn't get super hot/cold if the car sits for a while. Well worth the premium you pay, compared to some knock-off $70 P.O.S.

The fitment on the shaft is fine, width-wise, but you can still pull it off with a little bit of effort. It won't come off accidentally, though. You can contact Schätz directly, but unless you speak German/French, I'd suggest sending an email

Nice. Thanks for the info guys. Totally forget about the length issue.

Evilsaint, a couple pics would be awesome.

I just want to replace my shifter with something not as plastic... that has a bit more weight to it.

Very true! I have gone through 2 so far that I really like but the boot is about 1/2" too short to work properly. I even drilled the center out of one of the knobs to try and get it to sit lower and still no-go. Needless to say I'm still on the prowl. Would love to find a nice Brabus knob for a reasonable price.

The knobs I referenced in my previous post were both from Schatz. They are great knobs but they don't fit like they should on our cars. That or my boot's shrunk up a bit. Every time I put it in "D" it pops the cover off....

Check the second page of this old thread. You will see a picture of my Schatz shift knob and some good details on replacing the knob.

Good luck.

Yep, I had the same problem. It took probably 30 minutes of fiddling with it to get mine to stay on while shifting from Park.

I'll get some pics for you tomorrow morning, Pointman.

i ordered mine from schatz...c/f and chrome...i might go with a custom leather boot on this one...figured if i paid almost 300 bucks for the knob i might as well spend another 50 to 100 for a good boot that fits.

if you are willing to spent $300-400 on shift knobs. I would suggest looking into Carlsson or Brabus shift knobs. nothing beats the quality of those two.

So I tossed the ugly, cheap plastic piece of crap that came with the car and replaced it with a sturdy carbon piece that feels great and fits just fine, thank you very much. Mine was $35 because it was the seller's display unit, without a box. That is one hell of an expensive box.

Still have the stock unit. It works well as a door stop.

Does anyone know what the top of the C55 knob is made of? I was thinking of having it lazer engraved or etched, but if it's plastic, that won't work. Aluminum maybe? It get's hot as hell in this FL sun!
