It's most noticable durring deceleration but at times at idle as well. It sounds like a loud rattle. I've removed the belt to isolate the problem and it seems to be the sc pulley.

Here's a related question...What's the current status of Code 3 Performance? Are they still a vendor, shipping parts, etc.? I ask because they are the only company i'm aware of that manufacture sc pullies.
Thanks.

I hope its just the bearings, but after watching a crossfire pulley issue vid on youtube, i'm thinking its the backing plate rivits. Too bad about Code 3, are they out of business completely or just as a vendor here?
Albert Hernandez.
Here's the vid i'm talking about btw...

I would just risk it if i were you and buy a new sc bearing from code3. I believe their the only ones that sell that specific ngk bearing. I got mine in 3 days and it only cost me $20 to press in from a shop.
I think its worth the risk at $45 for the bearing.

Thanks for all the responses fellas. I'm extremely glad to hear code 3 is still shipping parts. Please update me when you recieve it. Many have had issues with the products arriving.
The supercharger clutch pulley CAN be ordered without the entire SC. But it costs, are you ready for this...$1200 without installation . Here's the most upseting part, Mercedes has a new updated version due to all the problems. Yet, for some reason will not recall the item and instead has left the cost to the customer. Not a good feeling when you remember what the C32's ran when new. I got better service when I had my Honda Accord as a teen.
Special thanks to the member who offered their stock one with the bad bearings. I intend to remove my pulley when I get home and double check the backing plate. If it is the plate, i'll be contacting you for sure about the stock unit.
The last option is the Code 3 pulley, altough the Crossfire forums have had some issues with the plate on these as well. So it is possible that the noise may return.
Thanks again to all who contributed,
Albert Hernandez.

Here is a possible fix...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...Q5fAccessories
This is a bit more than some, but alot less than most.
I purchased a spare S/C, some time ago, for an eventual clutch & pulley swap. Used C32 S/C's usually run between $300 and $3000 on ebay.

Wow, thats great to know. Thanks for the link. I'll be watching this to see where the price goes in the next few days. Too bad there isn't an option to buy it now.

Update.
Ok fellas,
After carefully examining the pulley i've diagnosed the problem. It is most certainly the backing plate. The bearings are as quite as when new. The plate and rivits on the other hand are obviosly creating the noise. Simply grabing the plate with gloves I could duplicate the sound without much effort.
SO... Now that i'm certain bearings won't sole the issue, anyone looking to go back to stock and sell their Code 3 pulley or even a stock pulley without the loose backing plate please contact me.
Thanks,
Albert Hernandez.

PS: I have personally seen 2 of these 2005/2006 SLK superchargers go for $200-300 on ebay.

I'm up late working, or is it early... Either way, I just checked my email and am happy to report code3 has already responded to me. A fella by the name of Brandon responded and seems to be very helpful. The only issue I have is the price of the pulley has changed since I last saw it. The original price was in the $500 range, but now it's listed for $650. I asked if he would honor the original price, hopefully he says yes. Is there something i'm not aware of regarding this discrepancy?
Thanks,
Albert Hernandez.

As to the price, I do not recall the unit being priced at $500. I have always seen it at $650. Do not expect him to honor a price that may not have ever existed or has not been around for over a year.

I've been dealing with Brandon at code3 for a couple weeks now. I just ordered a heat exchanger and he has been really helpful and communicative. It's in the mail and should be here tomorrow! Your right about the price. Brandon had a sale the last few weeks. I got my heat exchanger for $349 and the regular price is $449. Unfortunately, it appears the sale is over.
