The 0-60 (60 foot time) is tire and gear ratio dependent. A real low gear (numerically high) like a 3.73 or 4.10 or 4.11 will get your *** out of the hole real quick but then you can suffer on top end. Regardless of gear ratio, if the car is spinning (tires), and you ain't grabbin, the 60 foot will be slow which affects ET substantially. This is where drag radials come in. Street tires really do not work well or at all on VHT, so you need a good MT drag radial or Hoosier. I don't have any, BUT if I did, I'd be at 14-15 LBS on those. BFG also makes one too for our cars. That'll get you "hooked" and going for a good et. I don't care much what the MPH is at the end so much as a lower ET. Lowest ET wins regardless of the speed each one ran.(Assuming you don't bust out) You can run a 12.5 at 114 MPH and get beat by a guy who ran a 12.4 at 111 MPH.
Remember the old drag racers adage, "Spinnin ain't winnin."

The key is two fold, 60 foot time and RT (Reaction time), On a bracket tree, I go off the last yellow, in other words, I am hitting the gas when it hits the last yellow, NOT the green. Some guys go on the second to last yellow and have great RTs. On a Pro tree, unless you're really really good, I just hit it as soon as that tree lights up since there's no delay on the pro tree. We all use bracket trees, so they are more lenient.

2005 C55 AMG
Having only taken my C55 to the drag strip once, I know it can be launched from 2000 rpm with little to no wheel spin if the gas is properly modulated. Any more than that and it'll want to break loose standing still.

But 12.9 @ 109 with 1200 rpm launch? What's your secret?
Just saw your video with the burnout. Very nice. I can't seem to do a burnout with out the active handling coming on. Is ESP completely off with one push of the button? I know with my Corvette I have to hold down the button for 5 seconds to turn off both traction control and active handling, but it only has to be pushed once to turn off TC but leave the AH on. Is there something similar with the C55?

Look up dyno mode
not sure if it the same for c32.
But the dyno mode won't get you good times
it's really only good for heating up the tires
My secret was pratice
that day was a track rental day
I ran about 17 times any where from 12 sec to 15 sec.

People care about trap speeds because they're a very useful indicator of power output for that respective platform... YMMV.

Launch technique - try left foot braking, preload the TC to anywhere between 1-1,500 rpms, and quickly roll into the throttle... a decent burnout is also a must to warm up the tires and scrub off any debris. Experimentation will help you figure out what's best for you as a driver as well as your specific car.

Lowest combo of RT and ET wins; not just ET. You can run 12.5 @ 110 and get beat by a car that runs 12.6 @ 109 if he cuts a 0.0x RT and you're at 0.2 or slower.

The winner is the first vehicle to cross the finish line (and therefore the driver with the lowest total reaction time + elapsed time). SO, TECHNICALLY, UNLESS YOU'RE BRACKET RACING, THE WINNER IS THE FIRST GUY TO CROSS THE LINE!!

I don't believe that burnouts are that helpful or useful for those of us on street tires. In fact I always go "around" the water on my Pilot Sports since there's no sense in me heating them up. It helps much more on drag radials.

It takes a lot of finesse to launch our cars. And yes, it definitely takes practice. I know from experience.

Hooley only does his dragstrip runs in dynomode......and he pulled a 1.6 60' on DRs.......so i beg to differ. you need to proper tire setup to run in dynomode and that way your ESP never cuts in
