Brake pad sensor question
Is it possible to not have brake pad sensors installed and not throw an error message? My pads have got to be pretty close to done now, and I don't want to just keep driving expecting the car to tell me when they are worn if I don't actually have the sensors in there.

a quarter mile at a time
no, it's impossible to have them completely missing and not throw an error. Essentially, the brake pad sensor is a wire that is shoved into the last 1/8" or so of your pad. As your pad wears down it will eat through the wire, causing the electrical connection to be broken. This is when your car tells you to change the pad.
The only way to stop a warning is to buy a new sensor and zip tie it back and not insert it into the pad itself.

basically, the original question was whether he had to worry that someone had left it out and he wouldnt know if his pads were too low. noone was complaining about the cost of the sensor, or replacing it.

I can only tell you this about the sensor. When I tracked my car, and blow out a set of rotors, the sensor NEVER told a thing
I have NO idea about everyday street use, but when you hammer her, DON'T RELY ON THAT SENSOR FOR SH-T
