Absolutely not. You can only wring so much power out of these motors. You quickly approach the point of diminishing returns as you go over $1,000 for that. A name isn’t worth 9k.
The hardware isn’t gold plated is it? Offensive. Truly Offensive.
Even assuming that they are talking custom headers, pulley kit and ecu were still not talking 10Gs.
Maybe for an SLR…

he already has custom or upgraded everything. ie: "E55K short block with 9:1CR, Kleemann SC with smailler pulley, Torque converter, Maybach transmission, headers, cams, dual X-pipe exhaust"

its JUST for the tune.

If Kleemann won't tune their own hardware, then Richard just might. He seems EXTREMELY knowledgeable and is an engineer to boot.

I would like to see DynoComp, the world's largest Renntech dealer hold the two fastest C55's on the planet.

I'm taking a road trip to AZ and/or CO to see who wants to take on this challenge at a more reasonable price.

No. I got all that already including the 82mm TB.

The $10K is just to adjust the timing. This is a special deal they are giving me as a favor to Vadim since they are co-tenents.

btw..This price came straight from Wayne at HQ Australia who heads Powerchip's pricing. I heard from JB (Costa Mesa office) that they do "ghost" tuning for many other shops. Maybe I got the non-ghost price? What does Ghost mean anyway??? under the table tuning? I have no idea but I wish I got that instead of 4 zeros sticker shock. So for every 10 ghost tunes, they stick the 11th customer with the bill to make up for it?

Also nice to know that $35K plus on mods plus another 14K for replacement short block does not include any tuning after all this time.

It's scary to think for the few months I had the car last year that my extensive mods were running on a stock ECU? No wonder two pistons were damaged.

I think I'm going to sell my car for salvage value and move to a different hobby.

Did you ask why it cost 10k and what you get for 10k. I got a Custom RENNtech tune for 1/10th that price.

So how does this happen? Did you drop it off somewhere, leave a briefcase of money in the front seat and say "fix it up and make it real fast"? I would like to think you were more involved than that, but I'm having some doubts.

Anyways, may as well go ahead and give Powerchips $10K for 30 minutes worth of punching keys on a laptop.

Maybe I need more comic relief like this and the few above. I don't mind if you guys laugh at me instead of with me to keep me from crying.

Not laughing at your misfortune at all, just trying to understand a couple things. I know it sucks man, but I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around..........

A. How did you get to this point in the first place(all that work, no tune, and it blew up)?

and

B. How on earth could anyone think for 1 second that $10K for a special-buddy-discount-tune to adjust nothing but timing is anything close to reasonable? I am assuming that if a few people said "yes" you would have been prepared to drop $10K on a timing adjustment.

I admit everything I know about cars comes from the shop doing the work and I check that with what I read here. I never scraped a knuckle in my life inside an engine bay or under the chasis. Thank God this forum levels the field for us novice car hobbyists. I love this forum but I hate my car and the 4 years of hell I've been through since I bought this brand new C55 in Oct 2005. I do not wish what I went through on even my worst enemies.

btw...I still don't have my car since Dec 10, 2008

$1499?

What mods do you have for $35k? $14k for a short block? Even that seems pricey. Dude seriously if your going to spend money with reckless abandon just buy a SLS AMG and be done with it. Least that is priced within reason.
