Nice, thanks for doing all the R&D on this. However, i still think the bottle neck is at the rear T-Splitter. You need to change that to at least an SL55 Y Splitter.

Any suggestions for a cheap but good heat wrap? There's some at autozone, it cost $20, and doesn't come with much... The main difference between this setup, and LET/EC is where I have the filters located.

So, here's the update... Turns out there wasn't enough room in the engine bay to fit that huge coupler. The hood wouldn't shut... It did look like two huge turbos almost.
All that stuff will be returned. I have a new plan now that is a lot cheaper. I'm just going to cut, and place an end cap on the open side of the pvc enclosures with an opening for the air ports. Thinking around 3" tubing should be good enough... Not sure what the end result will be, but I'm off to find another solution.

I purchased a bunch of heat wrap and some fancy heat resistant spray paint stuff that was about $80 for the setup (most expensive part) and it turned out pretty sweet. The pics in the thread were before everything was coated of course. I still have some spare parts for the heat wrap and may still have the receipt even. Will take a peek tonight and see where I ordered from and what all it was exactly.

sl55 splitter is around 111$ from parts.com remember the temps in dec are vastley different than the temps in august. if you have metal tubing you will need to wrap them. my temps on my s/s tubing was in excess of 180* after a 20 min drive in the summer. wrapped them and the temps dropped to under 100*

My only argument is I'm not crazy of the look of our engines without the covers..it just don't do it for me..also I've noticed with my last setup that to little to too much filtration when dirty tends to minimize air flow so I'm removing the ITG filters and putting in the K&N filters back in the SL55 airboxes...I noticed my MPH were down and even colder temps outside and waiting 1 hour between runs they would not go up much at all. Its nice to get more HP numbers but if air is scarce at top it don't matter.

Sorry for the delay, but I found my old packing slip with all the info on the heat wrap and extra treatment.
I ordered it all online through Summit Racing. Part #'s THE-11022, THE-12002, and THE-13575. That is for exhaust insulation wrap, some special paint stuff (mainly just wanted it for color and for a more "finished" look), and heat shielding. Total was $72 plus shipping.

You may want to reconsider the use of PVC in your intake system:
When PVC is heated to 170~180°C, chlorine and hydrogen in the molecules are eliminated and release of hydrogen chloride becomes evident. Once such decomposition starts, unstable structures are formed in the molecule, which further accelerate HCl elimination and decomposition.
Hydrogen chloride gas, is a corrosive, highly toxic gas.
Because of its acidic nature, hydrogen chloride is a corrosive gas, particularly in the presence of any moisture.
Not what I would want my engine injesting.

ThermoTec sells heat barrier cloth that stands up to 2000F. spent some $100 bucks and you can cover your entire airbox with it to prevent it from any engine heat soak.

your intake doesn't, but your engine bay does as well as the valve cover that the PVC pipe is leaning against.

Looks like 2 BIG Azz Turbos top mounted on the engine. hahhaah. It's good to see some ppl making their own intake, at the end of the day, your own opinion counts.

Of course we should not worry about the fact that Hydrogen chloride (HCI) is also known as hydrochloric acid. Personally not something I want traveling through the intake path of my engine. But hey to each their own.

Sure go a head, but I'm not going to worry about it. Once the heat shielding is done it won't matter. Originally I wanted to use a plexiglass section so the filters would still be visible. Can't really heat shield it, and keep it visible though.

newsflash! hydrochloric acid exists in an aqueous environment. HCl is not "known" as hydrochloric acid
