12.5 1/4 mile et with C55

It seems like the c55 would be a very good candidate for daily driving duties for me with its good reliability. It seems not too many take the C to the strip like the E55. What mods would it take to get the C55 to run around a 12.5 on street tires. Would headers, cb exh, intake, tune, do it? Anybody with experience? Thanks for the help in advance.

I think an SC is required to get into the mid 12's.

haters crazy
I've seen a CLK55 run better than 12.5 with custom intake, custom headers, custom full exhaust, torque converter and built trans.

header, ecu, good exhaust, slicks, lsd, intake box or intake could get you to mid to low 12s...
Stock C55 runs anywhere between 13.2-13.6 sec

eh.....i'm gonna respectfully disagree with you on this one, even though i dont own a C55 lol. from watching Hooley's transform, i remember his best pre-supercharged run was 12.8ish, and that was with DRs, full exhaust (including headers), intake, custom 100 octane tune.....sure we dont have great temps or DA here, but still....

to the OP:

supercharger is needed to do it, especially if you want to do it on streets (why, i dont know; you'll just burn right through them)

There was other member on this forum ran 12.7 or 6 with DR... I guess it really depends on condition and location... With full slicks or good DR and LSD, I think it could hit 12.5 or lower... But then i'm jst guessin

Did Hooley's has LSD?

Hooley did not have an LSD (and still doesnt actually lol). either way, on street tires, i think a s/c would be needed. i would agree that perhaps with an LSD, DRs, and some tranny work, a C55 could run that. for some reason, the OP wanted to stick with street tires and those listed mods, so i stuck with it.

Moosejaw, I'm not familiar with C55asleep's (spelling?) setup. i'm guessing it was a rather fast N/A setup? i dont really keep up on other C55's outside of Hooleys.

On street tires, I find 12.5 ET's on NA unlikely. I ran 12.5's WITH an SC albeit with two damaged piston rings, street tires, 90F weather and terrible launch skills.

12.5s

That's funny. I posted a 12.66 4 years ago on Drag times. and it was done with Kleemann parts & there box tune and a Qualfe TB diff. It was on a less than perfect track & a head wind. This car at that time, dynoed like 341 Hp & close to 360 rear wheel torque. Oh yeah, I also had a Renntech air box & Green filters As I've said before , You can race Dynos all day long , but the record is set at the track. So 12.5s is abtainable. Cheers

+1 .. its really hard to have a 12.5 c55 without having it SC.
I am soon going to be getting headers, some more exhaust work and get it chipped. I hope to be getting to 12.7/12.8... Last time i ran the track it was before i took my 2ndary cats off and i ran a 13.04 at 107..
So i should be able to breeak into high 12's

I would have to agree with everyone else re needing a SC to get 12.5 on street tires. I couldn't break into the 12's with headers & lsd, think best I ran was 13.1. I was able to hit 12.5 after getting Kleemann SC.

I think with the good weather and a having the car maxed out in an NA form could do it. Its really tricky to say if it can or cant. I ran a 12.8 back in the NA days under not so good weather conditions.

I think C55Asleep had cams and one has to think that may be the the edge you need. Or maybe a set of long tubes (not meaning to plug). I never had a chance to run my C55 NA with long tubes. It would have been cool to see what it would do. All in all 12.5 is a great goal to shoot for. I would love to see an c55 do that NA

Just out of curiosity , How does you guys compare the C32 K , easier to get to 12's since it's easier with a simple pulley , raising the boost a bit etc etc .

I got to 12.52 1/4 mile with a 181mm pulley, LET tune, LSD, EC headers and the rest of the mods that are in my signature. On street Toyo tires. Max boost at 20 PSI.

WoW that's almost a full second shaved , That's what I'm expecting my SRT to run this year as i ran 12.7@107 with just a Intake and tune and 1.82 60' or crappy Run flats . Now with $2500 on upgrades i should see 12.5's all day to be conservative .

My C55 best run was 12.95 with trap speed of 109mph. Thanks to my Kleemann headers, dual 2.5" exhaust with an x-pipe, VRP intake and Jerry ECU tune. In order to achieve mid to low12s, blower is the only choice!

Agreed. You'll only do this with a blower..

Hooley also had shorty log style headers and not long tubes, which makes a pretty big difference. I'm hitting up the dyno again on the 27th to see what difference I made from my headers/ecu. Unfortunately our local drag strip doesn't open up until April so I won't be able to see what I can run until then.

I'm pretty sure I should be able to pull more than a 12.8-9

I'm rather surprised so many people are jumping up and saying a SC is required for it. From reading the various posts it seems like the dividing line of being able to do it NA or not is an LSD (something both the c32 and c55 should've come with stock, imho).

Or am I just totally wrong?

true about the headers. i forgot he had those evosport ones, not LTs. still dont think it would be a 12.5 car without both an LSD and DRs OR a S/C though.

for some reason the OP wants to stick with street tires, and you just wont have enough power on street tires without a supercharger. DRs really help drop those times.

C55asleep? setup was nice but he went overboard with SLR cams. PM him for details. I d rather he spill the beans than myself. I dont need another one of those 6am calls chewing me out.
