Blizzaks Rule!

Anyone who is from the east coast, specifically, the Philly and South Jersey area, knows we got rocked with 3 blizzards this year and broke all types of snowfall records. Long story short, after the first storm I took my C32 out and did not even get out of my driveway before learning that my Mich Pilots were not going to cut it. I ordered only 2 BF Blizzaks for the rear, mounted them and waited for the next storm. I was convinced that after dropping $$ on snow tires it would never snow again until I sold the car. Nevertheless, we got rocked with 2 more blizs less than a week apart. I took the C32 out in about 4-8 inches of fresh powder and was amazed at how well the thing gripped with the Blizzaks. No need to drive in "W" mode and no need to run "ESP." The car almost has a decent launch in snow with these things with minimal wheel spin. It got to the point where I was all out rally-like drifting around a vacant industrial park having the time of my life. As compared to previously when the C32 would struggle to even make it up my driveway.

Bottom line, I was so frustrated with the handling in the snow I was ready to sell the thing. I got the new tires and they have renewed my love of the car. Luckily, the guy that owned it for me ordered a full size AMG spare, which now hold a Blizzak. I got a second reconditioned AMG wheel on ebay for $124. Now I can be set for any weather in less than 15 mins.

I just wanted to share my simple pleasure with you all.

Scott

What size tires do you run? Did you do and starts/stops on hills? I have 265/35/18s on the rears, and I can't make it 5 feet in the snow. For this reason, I don't even try to drive the C32 in inclement weather. I am considering getting a set of stock rims and investing in some good winter tires.

I live outside of West Chester, PA and have managed to get by with Michelin pilot A/S's. I keep wanting to buy snow tires, but like you, I keep thinking there won't be anymore snow if I buy them. It hasn't been great, but with ESP off it's been manageable.

Cost prohibitive at the moment. The only problem I was having with traction in snow was start and stop. The rears alone took care of it. For the amount of deep snow we get around here, I thought this was a quick and easy solution.

Stock. However, I did use 225/45/17 in the rear for the snow tires rather than the 245/40/17s.
