Any advice is GREAT!! C32 AMG
I just purchased a 2002 C32 AMG. The car has a wonderful service record history with the dealership. After buying the car I took it to the dealership to have it checked over. Found out that the car has never had a trans service done. It still had the valeo radiator in it. The dealership does not offer the glycol test anymore. I was also told I had a vacuum leak in back of the supercharger. I went out this morning to see if I could find the vacuum leak (no luck). I called an indie shop and got a 595.00 quote for a behr radiator to be installed. They want 350 for a tranny flush as well. I was wndering how hard it actually is to do all this myself. Should I concider an aftermarket intercooler as well. Any advice would be awsome. Like most people, I'd love to be able to do it as cheap as possible without compromise to the car's life.

2002 C32 AMG
My car has 112,000 miles on it C32. The gentleman that oned it before me was in his 70's and serviced the car on time always at the dealership. I just can't believe after all the thousands of dollars in reciept's from his service records that MB never once mentioned the valeo radiator or offered him a trans service. The friggin shop foreman when I tok the car in for a glycol test told me that the 2002 c32's did not have a glycol issue. They don't do the test anymore either. Does this model have a torque converter drain plug?

Yeh i just got a $1150 quote to fix a glycol issue, requested that the shop fax me a detailed quote. I'll probably save some by buying the Behr radiator off ebay, after that its probably down to labor cost.

First, Nice RX-7. Second, is there anything special that has to be done with the fluid flush to get all the glycol out or is it just like a normal transmission service? My tech mentioned doing "several" flushes to get it all out.

250 for a radiator do it your self. 120 for fluids and filters for the tranny. straitforward no secrets. do a search its posted in detail. no drain plug. beak the line and drain it.
if you havent had a glycol test how do you know its leaking? is the trans jerking? if you have glycol issues the trans is already in trouble. if your just doing precautionary you can do the whole thing for under 400$

You just need a pump to pump out the tranny fluid. You can buy those larget 10 qt pumps for around $100 on amazon. You can also use it to change your oil.
You basically just pump out the the tranny fluid and drop the pan under and change the filters and refill.

i followed splinter's technique. drained the 4 quarts, replenished, then ran 8 quarts (1 quart at a time) through the cooler output line to flush the converter.

Think logically for a second. Do you think you can get more metal shards out by having a vaccum suck out the fluid from tq converter or letting the metal shards and debris drain by gravity into the pan?
Also when you do a change, you don't get out all the fluid from the tq converter so the new fluid mixes with the old fluid.
Thats why when you do a flush, you change the fluid. Drive it around and suck out the 4qt and put in new fluid. Then drive it around and suck out another 4qts and put in 4qts new fluid.
Do you really want keep jack up your car on jack stands 3 times in a row just for a flush?
The dealership also sucks out the oil and tranny fluids. They never use the drain plugs. Its quicker and you get more debris out when you get it sucked out.
