I am back in an AMG!
I just scored an SL55. So I thought I would share this cool bit of info first. As this was the subforum I cut my teeth on. The car is being shipped to me and I should have it with in 7-10 days. Very exciting.
In the past month since the crash, Ive had an opportunity to drive a few cars that I liked and a few I didn't. It vas able to drive a CLS55 CLS63 C63 E55 SL55 minivan (LOL) and a SRT-8 Challenger,
It was a hard choice.. I was torn between the SL55 and the CLS55. The CLS55 is just an amazing car all around. It handles great. it looks amazing.. But The SL55 just had something about it. So I was able to score a 2005 SL55 with only 25k miles on it.
I have to say next to the mini van the challenger was dead last. In fact it was really never considered as a option. Even though its built on a w211 chassis, It is just so damn heavy and huge. The inside was cheap. Even with all sorts of bolt on mods it just wasnt that quick.I kept getting blinded by the chrome shifter trim plate, when the sun hit it.
This car should make for a good car out here in Arizona. I plan on making this car as fast as it possibly can be.
The C55 will always be one of my favorite cars. I will soon be getting back into one, if the price is right. Then rebuilding that car up to where I left off.

05 SL55 with 25kmiles? What a find!
I love those turbine wheels, great choice on the R230, one of the few Benzo's without any true competition
Enjoy it in good health

I know of another 2005 with 25K on it. I would have went that route if it didnt seem shady. The guy wanted a cash deal. I mean $42K in green backs. It made me think this guy wanted to hide the money. Or the IRS was after him. I dont mind giving a back check for the full amount but, I'm not rolling up with 40K in bills to make a cash deal. In fact is someone had the ***** to do that, I bet you could get that car for less then 40K. The guy seems desperate to move the car.

Wooooo Hoooo! Well done! If I sell the C55 I think the next one would be an SL55 (late model). I am looking forward to see what magic you do to this.
Congrats Hooley!

First mod it to ditch the wheels and slam it. Then its header time. Bone stock car testing again, much like the CLS55 test. If this is a sign of an addiction I dont know what is... I've already started buying stuff for it.

Great car... and I'm sure it'll be perfect for AZ. Enjoy it in good health! Look forward to seeing what it can do with pulley/headers/cooling/tune.

What are your mod plans?
I know all the mandatory upgrades such as pulley, ecu, headers, and HE. I can't remember if they make a quaife unit for the car, but that would be nice as well.
I always thought that you could always make the car lighter by changing the retractable hard top with carbon fiber or fiberglass pieces.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's such a beautiful car.
