Did MB paint my car the wrong color?
I've stated before that I believe that my 2006 C55 is a fairly rare color, Capri Blue, but now I'm scratching my head. I just pulled a Datacard on the car from the MB EPC and I've also noticed this on the Carfax report...the car is showing, via these two reports, to be Diamond-Black, Metallic. I know for a 100% fact that the car is blue, as can be seen in the attached photos. I also know that the car has never been painted due to the color I'm seeing of the painted metal in the engine compartment. If the car was repainted a different color the engine would have had to come out to paint what I'm seeing...so, basically, it hasn't been repainted.
Sooooo, why is my color code wrong? Or, maybe I just don't know what Diamond-Black is and it is indeed the color of my car? Is Diamond-Black really blue?

Ah Ha! Now I'm getting somewhere. Well, I know some of you have seen my post the last few days and you know by this point that I have no idea what color car I have! LOL I thought it was midnight blue, then capri blue, now I'm hearing Diamond Black. I'm lost!

I seriously doubt MB painted the car "the wrong color" . The MB dark metallic black does indeed appear a very deep metallic blue. Did you buy the car new and order a specific paint, only to receive a different paint when the car was delivered?
Why don't you just post the three digit paint code from your driver-side door panel? For reference, there's the VIN#, then about 1/4-3/4's of an inch of blank space, then a three digit number - all of which is above a bar code.

That's the most likely scenario, but you'll know for sure with the code. Even if it's DB, while not rare per se, look at the bright side - it does look good.

My car is Diamond Black metallic. It's funny, sometimes it looks black and other times you can see a hint of blue in it. It's certainly a classy looking color. The only thing I don't really like about it is that its brutal to keep clean, but I guess that goes with any dark color! However, when it is clean it looks pretty amazing!

The car does look some what dark-bluish under the sun @ some angle. One of the main reasons I love DB.
However I think you car look a lot bluer..?
BTW its the same as Obsidiant black isnt it?

Being that I work for an automotive manufacturer, trust me, your car would not leave the plant if it was painted the wrong color. All codes are checked many times, and the final vehicle quality check must catch this as well.
Yes, diamond black is more of a very dark metallic blue. I say it many times over whenever showing people the car.....

Diamond Black is dark blue in certain angles.
